Are you aware of the ASCMcLaren web site?

https://www.ascmclaren.com/

Great resource for parts, info and manuals.

https://www.ascmclaren.com/servicemanual (Page 17 has the seatbelt assembly)

Perhaps when Randall C next checks in to this site, he may be able to give some help as it sounds like he ...

That's would be me. We ran into each other a few years ago when you saw me on I485 and we talked at the south Charlotte Fresh Market for awhile. Haven't had the car out much the last few weeks with all the rain.

I keep wondering if I'll ever see your coupe driving around!

1986 #118

Today would have been my dad's 94th birthday. A couple of June 15th milestones for 1986 #118.

Probably close to the date 37 years ago that he bought #118 red convertible with the full package at Hines Ford in Michigan (conversion date was May 1986).

12 years since purchasing car from him on June ...

I don't remember anything specific or special. I know at least one side was detached for a couple of feet in and I just lifted it enough to get my hand underneath and flat to the deck. I slowly kept pushing with my hand flat on the deck (like a wedge), working it back and forth and it came up fairly ...

My 1986 convertible had it glued on. I had the same issue about 9 years ago.

Here is the link to the forum post from back then:

Hope this helps.

If you go to the ascmclaren.com web site, there is a section for "Service Manuals". Within that there is a section for "Convertible diagrams" and the first two pages are for operating the top. It does mention that the tonneau cover will not release if the trunk is ajar. There is also a section for ...

Kinda cool running into you the other month crawling in traffic on 485 and talking with you later at the Fresh Market.

Go to the website below for good info and available parts. He bought out ASC of all the original parts years ago, so you can get NOS and some repro pieces as well as some salvaged body parts. I've bought several replacement parts and the SERVICE MANUAL section is a great resource with lots of info ...

I replaced my release cable in 2012 and posted here on the steps I went through hoping it would help anyone who needed to do the same:

My cable actually split, but enough was left that, after removing the stowage box, I ...

When you press the up arrow (top of switch), that releases the tonneau cover. When you press the down arrow (bottom of switch) and hold it, that will extend and retract the inverted metal "U" part that the top latches into. All this must be done with the ignition key inserted and turned to the ...

On my '86, the rocker with the raised dot is for the seat heater and when the forward side with the dot is pressed down, the seat heater should turn on and there is a light within the rocker switch to indicate that it is on. Don't forget to switch it off when done as I've read there is a possibility ...

Maintenance on my 1986 5.0SC

A couple of weeks ago I finally got around to taking care of a bunch of nagging issues (window motors, door rattles, speedo cable chirp, windows not sealing tight to the top gaskets, etc.) I've been having or have developed over the past year, as all of a sudden one morning the motor started running ...
