Magazine lot with McLaren articles

Post by Tom S. »

I have major opportunity here. I'm selling off some stuff in order to unclutter my abode and I've decided to dispose of my collection of magazines with McLaren's in them. This is by no means a comprehensive collection but it's not too far off.

This will be one lot and I'll take offers via PM for around a week or so. Think of what it would cost to get these one by one and be generous. ;-) Shipping will be varied depending on location.

Not all of these magazines are mint, they do show shelf wear and hey, they weren't that special when they just came out, they got read.

Look back articles:

Mustang & Fords May 1992 Article by Don Emmons and our very own Sanford M. Block on both the McLaren Capri's and Mustangs with nice pics and details.

5.0 Mustang Aug 1995 Article by Michael Barnes titled "What Could Have Been". Nice overview of McLaren Capri's and Mustangs with good pics.

Mustang & Fords Apr 1998 Same article by Michael Barnes titled "What Might Have Been" with fewer pics

McLaren Capri's:

Car & Driver Mar 1985 Article by Rich Ceppos about the new 1985 ASCMcLaren 5.0 SC

Muscle Mustangs & Fast Fords May 1993 Feature article on a T-Top equipped '86 Coupe

Ford High Performance Aug 1997 Feature article on an '85 Coupe

Hemmings Muscle Machines Feb 2005 Nice lengthy feature on a white/tan '85 SC

McLaren Mustang's

Super Ford Nov 1987 Road test/intro by Donald Farr on a yellow "Mustang yuppiemobile"

Mustang Monthly Nov 1987 Same yellow car but written by Tom Corcoran

Musclecar Review Nov 1987 Wow, same car but this time written by Paul Zazarine

Modern Musclecars Fall 1988 Article by Cliff Gromer titled "The Happy Hoofer" on a red/gray '88

Mustang Monthly Nov 1989 Road test article by Tom Corcoran on a white/gray '90

Autoweek Apr 17, 1989 Shortish side bar article in a larger Mustang 25th anniv article with an '89, I don't think they liked it. :-(

Musclecar Review May 1990 Loose, not full mag, road test article of an Azure Blue/blue '90. Is it Sandy's?

Mustang & Fords Feb 1998 Article in the back by Jerry Heasley about McLaren values--Mustang & Capri

Mustang Monthly May 1998 Feature on a beautiful "Solid Gold" '89 owned by John Joiner

Mustang Illustrated Aug 1998 Pic of a dark blue/tan '87 or early '88 at the Knott's Berry Farm show

Most of these have been scanned and can be viewed here: http://public.fotki.com/ascmclaren/ascm ... _magazine/

Photo # 69 is me! Right off the Golf Course!

Some, not all, but several of those articles (of course, NOT the ones penned by yours truly,) have errors in them. Some small errors and some whopper boppers. Don't take everything ya read as gospel.

The "tester" of that Hot Yellow '88 had some problems and shortly thereafter committed suicide. Several others mentioned in some of the articles are no longer with us, also, due to illness or old age.

No, it's NOT my car. LOOk carefully & you'll see NO air bag in the steering wheel. It's a 1989.

There are MANY errors in the article with my name & that of Don Emmons. I never met, nor spoke with this man. Turns out that the mag ok'ed for both of us to write an ascMcLaren article. Don's was so full of errors I was really mad when it hit the newstand. He writes 99% wrong, and then they attach MY name to it, w/out allowing me to do a preview read. so....don't blame me! I wrote 50% & his is 50% HIS writing, then they put BOTH of our names on the artilcle! Jeezzz !

Tom, I had to say that about this here Don Emmonds. 'Cause if someone here buys it, whom do you think is gonna get called down on the mat for some of those 2nd grade obvious mega bo boos ? ME -- & I didn't write them! He actually made stuff up as he went along. It's the magazine that I blame, for not allowing me to see what they attached my name to.

On the plus side, the photos and art work are terrific !
