Couple of Questions. Visors and Recaro Seats

Post by midman »

Hi everybody. It looks like I've been bitten by this Mclaren bug. Great car. I recently picked one up that needs a little work, but not alot and I'm sure I will turn to everyone here for help from time to time.
Sandy has been a great help already.
My first questions:
Are the sunvisors on these cars standard Mustang LX or a Mclaren item? Both of mine should be replaced.
Second, and maybe a silly question but does anyone have or know where I can find operating information and technical specs on the Recaro seats. Mine are in good cosmetic condition but the only thing that seems to work on them are the speakers and the indictor lamps.
Thanks for your help in advance.
By the way my new addition is an 88 Mclaren Mustang in Azure Blue with blue interior.

The Sun Visors (At least on my 87) are the factory visors for the LX's from 87-90. If you call Henry over in Odessa, FL (813)920-7544 he can hook you up. Now you said it was the Recaros with the speaker headrest now my 87 has the standard LX seats but ASC changed the foam and upolstery
Here is an example of what my car should have:

87 88 89 & 90 withOUT Recaros used Thunderbird headrests of the time frame. BTW, they were NON-adjustable !!

The sun visors on the 1989/1990s were custom made for the McLaren. The 88 & 87 were regular Mustang. I've seen them with 4 mirror combinations

1) Passenger side mirror
2) Driver & Passenger Side Mirror(S)
3) Driver & Passenger Side Illuminated Vanity Mirrors
4) Small Passenger Side mirror (1990 only)

No pictures. They were curved, from the closest edge to teh window curved upward towards the windshield header. The passenger side actually had a Ford Part # vanity mirror. it's looooooong but not very high, trimmed in grained black plastic with a thin lip over the mirror. It had to be long and narrow due to the curvature of the visor. Only one missor - Passenger side.

Late late late 1989s sported the same. (Seems like perhaps the last 20-30 1989s had the same.

Wait a minute Sandy, you have TWO 1990 ascMcLaren's right. Why can't you just take a picture of one of them. I would look at your pictures of your car but someone locked Tom. S's Fotki Album. I wanted to save some pictures of the Mclaren M81 but it keeps saying protected do you know why?

That is because (I think) it may be a copywrited photo)

I can't take a pic as I have no digital camera and also no scanner.

Thanks for the help. Still hunting for visors, but I know what I'm looking for now. I put a pic of the car in the gallary, right off the truck.
