I have unearthed a Gem !
So, following the yellow-brick-road of many "I know of this guy who has a...." followed by Did you ever talk to that guy with the McLaren....." and other not so frequent name drops, I decided to go on my Easter Egg Search. Well.......
Here's what I uncovered .....
1985
Mercury Capri ascMcLaren 5.0L SC 2-Seat Roadster
Guards Red (a.k.a ascMcLaren Red)
Sand Beige Recaros & Tan Roof.
1,400 miles Automatic, all Ford & ascMcLaren options. Showroom Condition & Concours correct to original stock. OEM Battery & Tires, removed, car on jack stands, temp controlled to 65 degrees, dehumidified storage.
Sadly I cannot {yet} get any kind of interest to sell it to me, but me thinks he is playing good game of cat & mouse.
So.... Should this come to pass, my Silver Anniversary '90 will be up 4-sale ! (I can't keep them all.)
I would be wanting whatever I have to pay for the 1985 Capri.
So, stay tuned. If anything tangable unfolds from this hunt, I'll post events right away.
So, what's the "feeling" of what this 1985 frozen it time car is worth ??

100 bucks, I'll give it to you right now for the 90 silver one you got
Seriously though, I have no idea. I might pay more for a capri then a mustang because I like them better but thats just me

Aw man, u dog! The year and color are my favorite. I like this combo as much as my black/tan. Good luck to you.
I would like to think it was worth $20,000 or more, but have a feeling the market has suffered in the past couple of years. I seem to remember prestine examples from a couple years back having trouble getting any where near $18,000 (Mustangs, not Capri's). You are the authority, but my gut feel is $16,000.

Not too far off. I'd be comfy with $14,500 to $15,000.
Would really like to have them both, (Silver 90 & this here new find) But I just cannot. Still have the 86 Coupe asc & my "Show-Car" Cadillac and the daily driver and the wife;s daily driver, and the Blue Mac. Totally out of $$$ for garage rentals !

WOW! I always thought you needed to trade in one of your later Mustang ones so that you also had a Capri vert too. Now you'll have exactly one of each "style".
Sandy, you ouldn't talk value here...your seller is probably watching
(seriously, type in ascmclaren in google and we are #2 behind hank's site.)

True, but I did.
"" Now you'll have exactly one of each "style"". Exactly my goal.
If it happens >>> Good. If it doesn't, that's okay too. Convertibles require much more attention to store than do coupes, so it would be considerably more work. I have 3 rented garages in 3 locations. One is "concours" - one is very good & one is a siht hole, but locks and is very very very obsure & hidden, but drafty and ~HOT~ in Summer and the North Pole in winter. No, there are no leaks, nor holes for critters, otherwise it's crappy. Our house is soon going to be too big for us as I am sure our son will move out in less than 2 years, and I'd love to sell and move Way T.F. out to the boonies of NJ and build a SMALL house all on 1 floor (this one has 46 steps ~ I don't need no GYM) and just 9 rooms and a big 6 car garage, HEATED with no windows & no pedestrian door.
This place is old (built 1923) and too big.

Sandy, just kick out your son now and get to work on the new home and six-car garage. He's out of school, employed and has a car. Living with you has to be cramping his style anyway.
