asc with an image disorder

I think it's an AHA Pony vert. This is not an asc car. It is a 79 though because of the engine and door panels.

I think "Jerry" the guy selling it doesn't know much about it. He lists it as a 1989 ! Does NOT show a VIN, to show it's real year, (does he actually have a title?) .... Says it "Salvage" ~ but it looks pretty good .... ?
It does look to me to be an AHA "PONY" Convertible, since it has a 1 piece rear window and a carpeted area where ther rear seat would been.
A "Cabrio" has a rear seat & the McLaren style roof, while a Classic Coachworks example has the same, but has a "Chest" where the back seat woulda been. Process of elimination says AHA

This is an interesting car. First off let me ask you if you've ever heard of AHA who made the 'Pony Convertible' back in 79/80? AHA made some Capri verts back then and I believe you have one of the much rarer cars. Please read the following and look at the pictures:

I believe this car matches your car perfectly. AscMcLaren didn't make a convertible back in 1979 and the styling is all wrong for an asc. Hope you find a good home for the car. It is very very rare.

Let's see if he responds. Sandy if you look in those links I sent him, the cars look nearly identical.

Nice looking car, but seems a bit over priced. However, a car is worth whatever someone is wiling to pay for it. Thanks for ID'ing this one Mike. I really like the car, but then I am partial to the Capri and like the color red!

Me, I think it's worth $4k-$4.5k.

It's super rare and in good shape and a v8 car to boot. There is a guy at FEP with another version of this in the tu tone paint scheme which is really sharp. Supposedly from what that guy says, is that the back end of these cars were actually from a BMW or something. The tailight openings are modified, holes drilled etc. like there used to be different lights back there.

I recall hearing Mustang Taillamps & a Mustang (1979-1980) trunk lid. The AHA is the ONLY one of these (aside from McLarens) that had a carpeted "BACK" in the back, with a seat cushion. The Cabrio & the Classic Coachworks both had back seats and the Biuvoc had the chest with the chest clasps in chrome). It's an AHA but a 1979 - I have a photo. Here:-

B A C K ~ S E A T ! You can see the vent windows & back seat, by greatly enlarging the frame. This would be a 1979. I believe in 1980 the vents were gone, and so was the back seat. BUT BUT BUT, THAT could have also been in 1981. So, I am not sure if car in question is stock or has been played with.

LOL, I know exactly where it is, actually I think I know the guy. I did see this car driving around when I was still living there but didn't have any idea what it was, I was into 60's cars at the time. I'll have to call him

With a salvage title? I dont know, would like to know whats wrong with it. I didnt read through the add maybe I should have if he listed the reason why its a salvage.

Could be possibly. Don't know for certain except that the pictures this other guy had were pretty convincing as it didn't really look like the back end of any fox car....but again, with a huge mod like this, maybe they used some Mustang Coupe parts.

In the second page of the article it says that they used the 450SL trunk lid. They may have used the taillight panel so the trunk latch would work correctly

Well, there you have it. Looking at the car, I think the rear flares on the quarter are not as pronounced. Probably because the SL ass is wider.

I wonder if hey used the same vert top too?
