I only have 1986 VINs for the coupe and the convert. I don't have 1984 or 1985. Sorry :(

General questions... If one were to buy a car like this and tear it down and do a frame up resto on it but change from blue to white exterior would it have a negative impact on the value? When I look at the other car restorations that happen from the frame up level it usually isn't a problem if they change the color......

3 out of 3 of my mustangs have all been white. For some reason I require it.. :)

I can't believe I've never seen this car, I used to live in Port Clinton, for 8 years. Just moved away in 2005. There are a few other McLarens in the area, but I've never seen a capri.

Yeah a color change always hurts the value no matter what car you restore....that is we're talking cars with real value. A 1994 Mustang with a v6 isn't going to be hurt by wrong paint color...the car isn't worth anything to start with.

A frame up resto will always help the value as you will be doing a lot more to improve the car....but a frame up resto in the correct color will always bring far more value down the road.

Same thing with original engines, etc. Not having the original engine will really hurt a rare car's value.

Bolt ons that can be easily reversed don't really hurt value too much or any at all.

Wrong color paint is such a problem because body work is kryptonite to buyers. To change the color back, it is hard for the normal person to do and costs thousands for quality work.

Ok guys I won this auction. I wont be picking up the car for a week or two :(

So what do you guys think about the price? It needs some body work, paint job, carpet, dash pad and some other odds and ends. I'm happy and am going to have boatloads of fun with this car!

Unless you paid something you cant afford or way over fair market value I wouldnt even be concerned. Its something that you really enjoy and no one can put a price on that. It's a really nice car and the color combo I would want. More importantly happy to see that you are excited about it cause the more love you have for her the better she will turn out.
