In 2002 I bought a 1968 Mustang Fastback and had shipped up to Connecticut from Georgia, it cost me $800 at the time using a company called "Enclosed Vehicle Transport". They did a great job shipping it but I felt like I paid a bit too much at the time, but they were the only shipper willing to do the job in my set time frame so I had to pay the price for wanting it ASAP. If I was in your shoes now I would consider the fly in and drive home option as previously mentioned by others.

Well lets face it, you allready decided to buy it so whatever is wrong with her now you have to contend with. Just get something from the seller describing the cars condition in detail. I shipped my ASC from California to New York and my Ducati Motorcycle from Texas to New York. In either case I was very pleased about the transaction. The driver would inspect the vehicle with a complete walkaround noting all things physically and mechanically with the old owner present to sign off on the condition (use this against the owner if it was missrepresented). When I got the vehicle I did another inspection with the driver and if I see anything else wrong the company shipping is responsible. DAS which I chose for your estimates also provides enclosed trailers to ship inside at a fair price of course. They were the company recommended by Ebay, I forgot who I used it was so long ago lol. I have two nicely herniated discs in my neck, thank you very much!
I'll look into the shipping thing, but I worry about not seeing the car first.
What to do, what to do!

Based upon my recent experience with DAS, I would strongly recommend against using them unless you pay the extra for the insurance. Otherwise, if they mess up your car, their liability is limited to $150.00.

She is a beauty. I'd be glad to own her, too. PLEASE, have her shipped in ENCLOSED trailer and insure it, before he pulls out. I DO know where of I speak !
I think you bought it dirt cheap. $10,000 for a pretty mint '89 ?
Ifr you don't like it, I'll give you your 10 back and i'll pay for shipping it to me. You can't lose. But....when I get done with it, it will be Royal Gold Metallic again. (Allready have the mix formula).
Safe miles ~ many smiles

Last summer I had my 92 ZR1 corvette shipped from michigan to arizona by intercity lines. They did an excellent job and had a beautiful setup. When he opened up the trailer to get my car out there was a 67 shelby and 3 or 4 other $200k plus dollar cars.
All of the cars were covered and seemed like he really cared about the cars. Anyways it was $1700 from Mi to Az, I felt that it was worth it at the time! It can't hurt to get a free quote...
