WTB: Blue Door Panels & Driver's Seat Belt

Boy, does THAT red one look weird! I am pretty sure I've never seen an example like that! Anyone know what is that little black section, just above where the PW & PDL switchs would have been??
Remember thatPW & PDL were standard equipment on all McLaren Converts from 84 thru 90. (As was A/C)

The black area is where the power door lock switch would go if you didn't have power windows.

I've never seen one without P.W. + PDL. I can't imagine how rare one might be without P.W. - BUT with P.D.L. !! !!

There was an entire list of items included on 87-90 McLarens, some regular options and many others unique to the build.

Of the regular stuff, normal options automaticaly installed on McLarens were P.W. & P.D.L. A/C, Fleet Tinted W'Shield, Delete Rr. Elec. Defroster from states that mandated it, Am Fm Stereo & Prem. Sound System & Light Group.

I'm not completely sure about the years from 87-92, but in 93 you could not delete power door locks. Power windows yes. But not the door locks. That's why the 93 Cobra R has the manual windows but power locks.

I've lived with mine long enough. I don't know if I'm using the right term, but the plastic sleeve that holds the ends of our seatbelt buckles in place have gotten brittle and chipped away, little by little the last 10 years. I've looked on Hank's site and he doesn't have them, so they aren't specific to ASCs. Anyone know of a source I can get them? Thanks.

Well,

I searched a little.

I found 2 places that have them, could be more, but they only have the following colors: Charcoal gray, black, red, smoke gray, and titanium gray. Um, its great that they offer 3 different shades of gray, but some people need blue. I could have swore that I used to see quite a few '87-'93 mustangs with blue interiors.........or were they rare?

So, maybe I'll find them at a swap meet, or have to dye another color to work?

There are no more blue interiors since it was mandated that they all be swapped out or painted to be black or grey.

It's some kind of law with the fox body crowd or something. I haven't figured it out.

Blue was not an interior color for the GT. That's probably why you can't get a repro in blue. I have tried using the plastic paint sold by 5.0 Resto, as I had it on hand for doing speaker grills, kick panels, etc. It didn't last long on the sleeves due to the amount of flex. I am going to try the dye next.

Do you need the sleeve that goes over the female piece of the seatbelt, or the male side that bolts to the outside rocker? If the former, buy the lightest gray they produce and use the dye. If the latter, you're going to have to find the short sleeve used. I found one on eBay, and it's the only one I found in over 18 months of searching.

The 50Resto stuff is crap. Get some from Metro Finishes. Night and day.

I think most people just cut a longer one shorter.

The stuff from 5.0 Resto has done a great job for me on the non-flex plastic parts in my McLaren. Haven't tried the dye yet. Maybe they've upgraded their line??? All I know is that the paint was much better than other products I've used in the past. But I'm kinda crazy about prepping the surface before painting. Maybe that's why it held on for so long.

If you cut down the long outer sleeve from a coupe/hatch it will be extremely obvious due to the shape and curves of the longer piece. I had thought of that, as I have a few long sleeves in my parts supply. If you're a "Mustang Melvin", it just wouldn't do. It would never pass muster with even an average MCA judge.
