see this is what hurts our cars. for a car to be worth alot somone needs to pay alot. sellers are selling at the right price but buyers dont want to pay it... pay the high price not only will your car be worth that but all of our cars will keep going up. the times of picking up an ascmclaren coupe for $3,000 is in the past. we are all sitting on our cars waiting for them to be worth something but they will never be worth anything unless the buyers start paying more!

HAHA 25-30?? Riiiiight. I was offered 20 for mine and it's got a ton of work done to it!

w/o seeing any other pics and being "tweaked" this car is worth maybe 2k! MAYBE.

I'm willing to pay a decent price for these cars, 8k isn't the issue. The issue is paying 8k for a car that needs paint, ground effects, and has between 90k and 180k miles on it. I ran carfax and it states 89k miles in 1996. The owner stated it has 78k on it now. I've also seen more pictures now and there is overspray all over the place. Items painted white under the hood that shouldn't be (black rubber pieces, shock tower bolts, etc etc). It just seems like what work was done needs attention, or re-done. And who knows what underlying mechanical issues need to be addressed due to the unknown mileage.

See that's just it...If people aren't willing to pay "alot" then the cars aren't worth "alot"...remember something is only worth what others will pay...what we or they think they SHOULD be worth and what they are actually worth are 2 different things...it's the sellers that need to adjust their prices...not the buyers.

Personally I'm not waiting for anything to be worth anything...I drive and race my car all the time and don't plan on selling it. I know everything about these cars and love them. Would love a white coupe to compliment my blue one but would still refuse to pay 8k for the car listed in this thread...Rare, 1 of a kind, #2 off the line or not...it's just not worth it to me...

I'll clarify my post and agree with this in that these cars aren't K code Mustangs of the 60's and worth $10-15k as shells!! lol IMO they never will be.

CKJ your right this car is not worth 8 but if it had all the parts sure it is!
a coupe with all parts and nice paint should bring 8 no questions. also that carfax sounds scary! did you send sandy the vin? maybe this thing is a euro?

i guess all im trying to say is if our cars are ever going to be worth something somone has to start buying them at higher prices... somone has to be the first to buy a rough coupe for $5k

lol You don't just start paying more so the other one you have goes up in value! It has to be worth it to you to pay that much and they just aren't and probably never will be...as I said it doesn't matter to me as I drive my car and don't worry about how much it's worth...Anyone that has one hoping the value goes Barrett Jackson is crazy...lol Just my opinion.

uh, with the exception of Sandy!!! Granted the price may not go crazy, but his cars could draw a nice price. IMO, more than if he were to sell else where on the open market...

I agree with a lot of what has been said, especially by Mike M. I love these cars and as I've always professed, I am willing to pay $$,$$$ for the right one. But, the car has to be worth it. Mike M., I'd probably give you 20K for yours.

I'm still kicking myself for not buying that black/silver one on Hanks site a few years ago in New York. The timing was just bad. That was a near perfect car for $12,000. I think it had a mere 22,000 miles on it.

Glad I jumped on my Coupe for 5k and Euro for 2K

If you see it you gotta jump on it.
just last week on sCambay there was a 70 Cougar bumper
redone for 250,and I didn't jump regret it now.

Agreed. I remember Sandy posting a couple of years ago that people tend to regret the things in life they didnt do more than the things that they did do.

Example, years ago shortly after marriage to my wife (of 24 years, now) we found a nice house, I mean a really nice house, but I was afraid to commit and buy it. It was expensive at $150,000 and the taxes were $8000 @ year.
On a car saleesman's typical income, this would be a really big chance for forclosure.

As fate went, a few years later my Mom died and left me some money, 6 years later my Dad did the same followed by his sister.
With the money I inherited, we woulda been okay. Just barely comfortable, and no room for 3 McLarens....
But, I was too scared, so we bought a $91,000 house (in 1982) and we are still here.
Well, that $ 150,000 house, sold this past April for..... $500,000, yup, a haf million! That's what has taken place here in New Jersey, values have tripled! My $91,000 house is today worth $285,000 = so, I regret not buyng that $150,000 one, now.
But, I didn't hurt anyone nor break any laws.
But my personality has always been to error on the side of caution.
So, I live with it.....

It's Those kinda decessions I refer to.

I trade on cars a lot well actually all the time since i have my own delership now and it is quite rare for me to keep any one of them for a long time but a few of mine are keepers somthing just tells me to hold on to my 85 GPIV pace car i enjoy it plus i do feel it will be worth quite a bit in the future but who knows really could care less i still like it and that is what being into cars is really about. My other keepers are a mint 1994 Black Nissan Pathfinder SE leather 4x4 owned it 11 years rarley drive it now it stays in garage covered. My 03 Marauder, my 95 F-350, and my 87 Dodge D-50. And the wifes 05 Dodge Magnum RT we bought it from Atl Braves Player Chipper Jones so can't sell that one besides the wife might veto that LOL. Other wise to 45 other cars that my business owns i can do what ever with

I have just got my web site going for dealership still a work in progress on building but i see the light at the end of tunnel man the local fire marshal and building dep's are a royal PITA

I am envious of your Marauder. When they became available, I was initially hot to buy one, but then I read some lukewarm reviews, and I didn't like the idea of owning a car with four doors, blah blah blah. Even when Mercury dealers were practically giving them away, I didn't pull the trigger. Well, now it's too late and I wish that I had one . . . and especially a silver one. Nicely done, sir.

The Chipper Jones Magnum is intriguing. While the Magnums are very nice cars (I almost bought one for my wife; ended up going with a Jeep Commander because I found a leftover 2006 model for $13k under sticker and couldn't resist), it is hard to envision a mega-rich ballplayer driving one. What's the story on yours?
