85 Capri Vert

Post by mark@ddi »

I feel a little like a traitor here but.............

My household has a Crossfire convertible, a Nissan Altima SER, and a Mini Cooper as well as my Capri. I put the Capri into a storage unit for the winter.

Yesterday I bought a 1999 jaguar XK8 Convertible with 27,000 miles. Blue with blue top and Ivory/brown interior. OMG!

My Capri is for sale if anyone is interested. My brain is pretty muddled at the moment and I can't fix on the price so if you are interested please let me know.

What's your take on the Crossfire 'Vert? I wanted one, and was ""thinking"" about a 2008 - and now dealers say that there is no 2008 ? I know that there was NO 2007, but they had said that the 2008 would be a "GO" & now ...... :?:

I really like the Crossfire. I like the Mercedes SLK series and this is exactly that car with a custom made Karman body.

Out here there are being sold as $15,000 off MSRP but you can do better.

A very low mileage convertible can be had for $22,000 or sometimes less. If you look for the same SLK it is thousands higher.

Best bargain to day in my opinion.

Downside is Chrysler service. When I schedule I have to do it around the "Crossfire guy" being there that day. Scares me a little.

7& 1/2 quarts of synthetic for oil changes.

Highly recommended.

Thank you Big Zeke!

I liked yours too!

I took the Jag to the dealer today for an overall inspection. Should have done it before I bought it but I got emotional and did not.

The verdict from Service Dept was that I got a really great car with nothing wrong. Then they did a coolant flush, 2 new wiper blades and an oil change for $215.00???????? while I waited in the "lounge." Upscale marketing for sure.

This Jag stickered new for $75,000+. I can't believe it.

I am going to Miami by Jag on Monday. I was thinking of taking the Mclaren with For Sale on it and flying back but.................nah.

Mark,

Where are you in MO? Not interested in the car, just curious. I'm in STL.

Well they annouced a 2008 on Sept 1st

http://www.chrysler.com/en/news/article ... _crossfire

Then on November 1st
"Chrysler is making the Chrysler Crossfire covertible, Dodge Magnum, the Chrysler PT Cruiser convertible, and the Chrysler Pacifica crossover all go away."

http://www.autosavant.net/2007/11/chrys ... -five.html

From what I understand, there may be a limited production run of all the cancelled 2008 models (the Magnum had a refresh inside and out), but with dealers still having new 2006 models still on lots (one near me still has a new 2005 SRT-6) I doubt it. But who knows, Chrysler's site lists the Crossfire under its 2007 models

I always loved the 'Vert - especially in the Gold or the yellow. But..... I need it like a hole in the head.

For where we live, the only vehicle that makes any sence is a Jeep. (i.e. a Grand Cherokee Ltd.)
