Driving a Mclaren

Hello all. I was driving my car (1989 Royal Gold) in michigan today. I don't know what it was about the sun today, but i recieved so much attention. I saw so many people pointing and staring. Two guys in a red van were taking pictures with their camera phone. I could'nt help but smile. I had young ladies following me, and one lady followed me for 3 blocks just to tell me she liked my car. Like that scene from the movie Transformers when he dropped his girl at home after the date... " I Love My Car". That brings me to my question, How do you keep from driving your Mclaren? I love going through the gears (5speed)

, listening to my exhaust, feeling the wind, and all the attention. So please let me know...How Do You Keep From Driving Your Mclaren? I don't know how to post pics in the message but it is the Gold one in my album

I don't keep from driving mine.... I drive it all the time!

I see we are kin... I have the Yellow '89, originally scheduled (maybe painted?) as a gold car, but then painted (or repainted?) Hot Yellow. Mine's #082.

Me I drive my GP as much as I can.

Cars are ment to be driving. And rowing thru the gears is always Fun!

Been a little busy lately..... but in a good way.

I TAKE 2 "dON'T DRIVE 'YA mClAREN" PILLS A DAY

Truthfully last week I had the Silver Anniversary out & put down the top and took "Mrs. McLaren" for a ride.

Then I had hernia surgery and I am still on the mend from that - but next I will take out the others. e'body gets to go out this year for a little cruise.

(I hope my blood pressure can take it) 'Ya saw that Silver/Black Capri 'Vert that's getting parted out? Maybe he should not have taken her out...Hmm. Everytime the back tires roll over the curb, we all face that happening. I do not like facing that happening.

Tear it down for a complete resto and leave it that way...LOL I haven't "enjoyed" mine in awhile.

I pulled my out last weekend and just went cruising with my son. We went through a tank of gas enjoying the sun and the ride.

You need to buy a beater car! One that's in OK shape, but far from perfect, then go drive the damned thing!

I went to a show at a local exotic car repair shop a few weeks ago. I actually didn't expect to see anything other than what the shop would have on display as it had rained all the day before, and all that morning. WRONG! Some of these guys drove their 1960's or 1970's Ferrari for over 4 hours, in the rain! We're talking cars like this:

If I recall correctly, this is a Ferrari 330 GT 2+2, of which only 460 cars were ever produced. Now remember, these were not based on any sort of regular production car and thus, there is no purchasing a front fender or door if it were to be damaged. The only choice is to have someone hand make a body part such as a fender! And this guy drove his car in the rain!

So go buy that driver car Sandy, and have some fun! Let's face it, you deserve it!

GOOD NEWS !!

I am driving the Silver Anniversary Ed. in a Memorial Day Parade !
El Bimbo wanted to sit up on the Tonneau cover, but I told E.B. that it would bend as it's only Aluminum and might bend, and then would not close correctly, so the front passenger seat will do fine.

3/4s of a mile long, at 5 MPH. She should be okay. After wards I'll put up the top so she doesn't wrinkle too badly, and straightens out.

PS/ when you put ya tops down, remember to stop them when at the highest point and gently pull the padding out (away) from the convertible frame bars.
