Oh my God, the Jeep looks brand new! You have no idea how perfect the is with 56,700 miles AND 9 years "young". It shows absolutle zero wear (rugs, seats, trim, body) I did a mega-monster detaiing job! I damp wiped the pedals, vacuumed UNDER the seats, waxed, dressed tires, & worked on the wheels for 1 hour before resting up to begin. Dinner could be served on those rims. Neighbor came over and he jacked up the 2 fronts & we removed the wheels and used industrial grease cutters to actually scrub off all the brake dust and then power washed them & put them back on. The BACK side even look like sterling silver ! I waxed the roof, first time ever. Vacuumed the spare tire cover.... all day (with a few rests). Spray Nine'd the leather seats (no dirt on them) and then used Pledge and buffed them by hand. Juist an amazing job. 2 men X 6 hours = 12 hours I'm pooped

Hi guys.
I am the "new" buyer.
I have been here a couple times already, just reading. No posts because I have been so darn busy. This car came along a month to early.

(But when I saw it, I new it was exactly what I wanted.)
I have apologized to Bill about a million times for not being able to pick the car up until next week. Those darn banks! I am off this week, but I start a new job on the sixth. With moving and the new job, GGGrrrrr!!!!!

I have a couple of questions.
1.) Anyone else here own an 89? - Did you do anything with the motor/ fule injection system?
2.) Why are these cars not worth more? I mean, I have seen GT Convertibles in the same price range?

It's only my opinion, ('ya, I know, everybody had one....) Whatever...
But there was never a major advertising blitz on them, and the public is not aware of them - even today. As you know, advertising creates demand. Look, the world knows what Pepsi is, yet they, like Coke, continue to pump mega millions into advertising & promotion.

Secend reason is that there are so few! 2233 of the convertibles, (The Capri AND the Mustang versions added together) and just 336 of the Capri COUPES, so...... a grand total of 2569 and some were exported, and some went to Canada and some went to Mexico...SOooo, there might be an average of 45-50 per continential United States.

When folks do not know OF them, and the majority have never seen nor heard of them, that directly affects DEMAND and lack of demand affects the price.

Well, that's how I see it, anyhow....

I wish I had the money to purchase your new car. I have an '89 (#176). I purchased it in '99 with 74k miles and it currently has 180k. The biggest thing was I bought new Ford injectors from Summit at about 100k miles (one of mine was leaking) and I replaced the valve cover gaskets at the same time. Otherwise all stock. I did the complete front suspension with Ford parts at 120k miles. Still love it, just wish mine wasn't white. I've tried to get it in 4 movies and each time it came down to color (white is too hard to light).

Hagerty accepted my estimate of $15,000 value for collectors insurance.

Parts prices may have something to do with it as well.

I know if I buy a regular GT vert, I can buy almost EVERYTHING fairly cheap and make the car like new. (new door panels, front bumper cover, etc.). Very cheap car to restore. The mcLaren is not the same. Most people who buy 5.0s modify them to some extent. The people who buy mcLaren(s) often try to keep them as stock - in hoping one day that will make the car worth money.

We shall see.

I know Hank (Henry) is a little upset as to what HASN'T happened to these cars yet.

They just are not worth anything yet.

I can't tell you how many McLarens I've seen on "Joe's car lot" type places that have been bastardized obviously due to the prior owner finding out how expensive the ground effects, tail light covers, wheels, and other pieces were, then replaced them ALL with GT parts. happens alot.
