I'm a little confused. Is this related to the asc cars in some way? They go into a discussion of the Saleen market values which we have discussed here.

While I would like to see asc values get moving upward where they should be, I don't want to get where these guys are headed which is being a worry wart about the "market" for asc cars.

"OMFG, somebody is selling a Saleen for 20% below market value! There will be repercussions!"

Please. It's one of the reasons the classic market got tired...fast. Cars are not investments.

Finally, somebody says what makes perfect sense.

Values of cars, as someone has said before, are only what someone else is willing to pay for it. If you like a particular marque and have that car, what difference does it make if it goes up or down in "someone" else' value scale? Will you like your car more or less?

Barrett-Jackson and similar auctions, along with a bunch of people trying to relive youth and have wayyyy too much money, have set the hobby on its ear, financially.

Bottom line, if you love your car, what difference does it make if someone says its worth XXX? If you choose to sell it, does the value on paper mean you'll get that amount? Back to square one.....Its only worth what someone is willing to pay for it.

Thats why I have a mixed attitude when I see the Barrett-Jackson, RM, or other big name auctions on TV, prices on some things have been driven up so high that its getting very difficult to (forget about it) to acquire a certain car you'd like to own. Yea, thats great for the people that already own one, but for those trying to get one at a fair price, it sucks. The stories that everyone out there has heard about (prior to the last 10-15 years) the little old lady that is selling her deceased husbands "old mustang" for whatever she can get for it - buyer shows up and its actually a shelby GT500 or a Boss 429/302 doesn't exist anymore because granny found out via Barrett jackson that its a "A-code", is a rare color, is 1 of 5, is the only vert, etc, etc. etc. and now wants $2 million for it......

I do enjoy watching the wide variety of stock and custom cars and trucks cross the block, absolutely beautiful cars that are out there. But then as the gavel drops selling a '65 Mustang vert for $85,000 in lieu of $15-20k not that long ago.........

I just thought the different opinions people had about the car, the value of the car and how this car has affected the value of other Saleen’s was interesting.

The point I want to make is car people are a different breed, what some may view as a pile of junk, others view as a treasure to be uncovered. Some buy a car new and treasure it, while others restore a car and feel it is a part of them.

Let's not call a car not restorable or not worth fixing, encourage people to restore them. Keep in mind everyone has a different mechanical aptitude, what is a major restore to some is a walk in the park to others. Let's just keep these classics around for future generations to enjoy, and encourage people to do so.

1st they were called fakes, then imitations, then clones, then replica's and now they are called tributes.
