Pictures posted in the album sections 1986 Detroit Auto Show

Post by capri50asc »

Hi Guys

I just posted 2 pictures in the Album sections. One in the 86 Conv section and the other one is in the 86 Coupe section.Sorry it took me a few extra days to complete. I'm a little bit on the slow side and mentally challenged !
I took these pictures at the Detroit Auto Show in Jan 1986.

Great Pics.

Wish I could have seen one of these cars new. Didn't know they existed until the late nineties, but I always loved Capris. Takes news a while to get down to Texas.

Is that Coupe green, or is it black with the lighting playing tricks?

Pictures at Detroit Auto Show

The pictures are from the Auto Show in Detroit. I remember taking a stack of brochures that day on the coupe and drop top. Also they do look green, but I'm pretty sure they our black.

Take care Chris

I'm inclined to agree. Those Camaros in the back aren't something I've ever seen at the Detroit Auto Show. It's also very open.

Until very recently, the Auto Show was a huge marketing push with displays, concepts, models, new product, etc.--and specifically designed more or less to block a good view of other cars from each vendors area.

BTW. Note the sunroof. Bet one of us knows what happened to that black/silver Coupe with a sunroof.

There weren't many OEM sunroofs. I had one and I was told the die failed at Ford after very few and wasn't repaired before the ASC Coupe run was done.

I did see a hacked together black Coupe at Krug LM in May-June of '86 in Dearborn with an auto, cruise--even the CAPRI letters on the hood (some were even missing) that had a tiny after-market sunroof. Looked awful.

They were representing it as an ASC Coupe, though all it had ASC were the stripes, ground effects, tail, maybe the quarter windows. It wasn't a EuroCoupe because it didn't have that stripe and it had OEM wheels, as I recall.
