If this AMC
oops - I mean ASC, genuinely does have the 6-lunger under the hood... it's exceedingly rare. Not necessarily desirable... and most definitely underpowered... but rare.

Good Idea !
All of the 6 bangers were 1986s
Here is the story behind them.....
ASC from time-to-time would call their biggest sellers (at that time they were producing the CAPRI cars, remember.) A pretty decent number of retail L-M dealers gave feed-back that several "lookers" (female) would have been interested in the car, but wanted nothing to do with a V-8, due to fuel comsumtion. L-M dealers told this to the folks at ASC. Thusly these 6-cyl. were born. They were (are) based upon the GS model of the Capri, as all V-8s were based upon the RS model.
They also tried to lower the price on the GS. Most have the plainer door panels. lacking the elongated armrest with the Lincoln Town Car Door Courtrsy/warning lamps deleted, as well as the wood trim on the dash, that the RS 'Verts had installed ny ASC. The standard cloth seats from the GS have also been seen in a few examples. The asc embriorded leater seat COVERS were an option, installed ON the base model seat !!
They were all automatic, as the 5-Speed manual was not available with the six cyl.
I am not going to go trough tons of paperwork to tell you the # of rthese made...... but I seem to recall the # was 37 out of the 245 1986 ascMcLaren Converts made. 83 percent of which were sold new to females, and 13% to males. Exterior paint colors were also limited to White, Red, Black and the THEN new edition, light blue metallic. Interiors were the Tan and the Blue.
The Red all had the Tan, while the white had the tan OR blue and the black had the tan, and the Light Blue Metallic had the Blue interior.
