In 15 years I have found only 1 other with that. The other owner bought it new and told me that ascMcLaren put it on less than 10 cars, and then quit doing it. I know one can buy aftermarket kits, from many venders. If yours is one of the 10 cars, the wood will be replacing the normal black plastic underneath. If not, your wood would be on top of the black plastic. Thusly being plastic pieces, with a wood finish with sticky on the backside.
If yours is 1 of the 10 - - then it will have tiny little blacked headed screws securing it to the base. Too me, it looks real !!

IF IF IF it has 4 cutouts on the piece located to the left of the steering column for the alert lites to show thru, then it is 1 of the 10 genuine real ones. These 10 were all 1989s O-N-L-Y

Wood kit

I don't believe it does. I'll have to check it out when I get home. If memory serves, the guy I bought it from said he installed the kit himself.

The 10 cars that got it while at ascMcLaren were only 10, because it was unbelievably expensive (to ascMcLaren) The pieces were all wood, through and through, and the pieces that they were to go on, had to be removed! In other words, they were totally new parts, rather than a stick-on over the original piece underneath. The best way to tell, is that the stick-on have no holes, as they stick on. The big money ones have microscopic holes in which mini-microscopic black screws actually screw down into (a near impossible task to do, without dropping the screw, and practice cursing!

I was told that ascMcLaren's price from the manufacturer was
$4400.00 @ car and ascMcLaren was charging a MSRLP figure of $575.00.

They were Pecan (color .....a cream) with soft lines (horizontial) made from real Birch.

Dealers were not ordering it on "in-Stock" cars due the the $$$ and workers at ascMcLaren were learning NEW curse words trying to install them.

In their defense, (the option, that is....) "they" were BEAUTIFUL.

Somewhere on here, I have pics of a 1989 in Paris Blue Metallic that had it.
