I've noticed. But Ford made LX and GT convertibles. The conversion was way too costly at that time frame. By 1990 ASC had almost shut down the conversions completely, and I can see why.
Interestingly enough, there is a 1980 Mercury Capri Convertible for sale as a prototype, made for Henry Ford Jr, and is claimed to be the forerunner of the ASCMcLaren's in Hemmings! Has 16,000 miles. Has the Ford titlework and is asking $19,900.00.
