Newbie...a little help?

Post by Mrs.HeeHee »

Hey Guys,

Okay so here is the deal - I just bought an 88 McLaren #1315 I was wondering what actual assembly number that was...If they are different. - I believe I read somewhere that they are infact numbered differently. Anyone got any tips or heads up for me to look for. It hasn't been modified. It went from being a joy ride cruiser to a Daily Driver should I do anything special to keep it up - other than the normal care.

Thanks,

CS

The 1987s and 1988s were Series 1 while the 1989s & 1990s were Series II. Therefore, the numbering did NOT start over on the 1988s nor on the 1990s

1987s were 001 - 479 Because they made 479.

The first 1988 was numbered 480, thru # 1,494 because they made 1,015 !!

1989s (Series II) Started over at OO1 and ran thru 247, as was made, for 1989.

1990 began with # 248 and ended with # 299. THEN.....(52 Made).....

Then they produced 12 Silver Anniversary Editions to Commorate American SunRoof's 25th year in business. They were numbered 1001 thru 1012.

There were several units built in exterior paint colors of which ONLY one such car were painted in THAT color.

1,5_ _ dash numbered were sent out to folks whose dash plaque fell off
(and was likely vacuumed-up forever more into a car-washes vacuum !

so since my dash plate is still 1315 I have the original plate...why exactly did they send out 15_ _ for the fallin off ones...could they not re-produce the plate or was it a matter of owners not knowing the plate number?
