Okay - So back in May my car broke down ...Oil pump locked up and the car ran for about 15 mins with out oil...Luck for me the engine was in better shape than it could have been by the time the car fully died. After months of work and replacing just about everything under the hood. I should have it back on the road by Sept. 2nd. THANK GOD! My issue is now this car is worth way more than any regular insurance company will pay for it, if something happens...I'm sure this is a familiar problem for many of you on the Board.
This is my daily driver.
So my question to you guys is Who do you have insure your car?
Thanks,
CS

I have Hagerty out of Traverse City, Mich. It's an agreed value policy with no mileage limitations and allows me recreational use of the vehicle.
There are others. I have 3 vehicles with them. '65 Thunderbird, 80 Corvette L82 and our '86 ASCMcLaren roadster. last year was $542.00. No deductibles.
Heacock for my '89. 15k agreed value for half what I was paying to Hagerty with 10k agreed value.

If this car is your daily driver it sounds like you might be out of luck. I use haggarty and I know for a fact they require proof of insurance on another car, other then the one they are covering. They don't cover "daily drivers" so they make you prove you have something else that you drive.
I know that when I had state farm they would cover it under an agreed value just had to have the car appraised first.
I think your best bet would be to contact your insurance agent and see what they recommend.
I use American Modern which I got thru Ford a while back at one of the shows. The prices are pretty much the same for stated value but things vary from there. Some only allow limitied mileage but a few will allow you to add miles for an extra cost. I used my 85 as a daily driver during the good months but it only adds up to 3000 miles a year. There is another company that the Viper Club recommends which has options for higher miles. I don't recall the name right now but I may have posted it here before.

I know I am a bit late in joining in on this thread, but I recently insured my 88Turbo Coupe Bird with Farm Bureau on a stated value policy.
They required an appraisal which came in at $9500.00 by the man that they recommended & they agreed to insure it for that amount.
My annual premium on it is much less than a hundred a year since I have two other vehicles & my house insured with them. I do however have somewhat limited recreational use of the TBird with this policy, which suits me fine since I am not too eager to add lots of miles onto the already 218,000 on the odometer.
