I saw a Piranha

Post by tfs2121 »

us michigan folks have cars in our blood and when it gets warm out we go cruising.i know most of you have heard of the woodward dream cruise well there are alot of citys around doing there owen cruise and today i was at one and i saw a piranha at first i thought it was an ASC. the car is extreamly neet and i do have pictures that i took with my cell phone (all i had). the plate on the car was 1 of 8. i had to take some one that was with me home and when i went back it was gone... i wish i would have got to talk to the owner.

happy fathers day to all of you dads out there...

I read an article on the web about the car & it's car-designer owner, with a sorta crummy picture of it. I believe it's one of 8 made, 4 originally remaining in America. I (now) wish I had saved the article. Maybe I did.....needle in a haystck syndrome.

2 WERE NOTCHBACKS, 2 WERE HATCHBACKS & 4 WERE CONVERTS. OF THE CONVERTS, 2 WERE BLACK, ONE WAS RED AND ONE WAS BRIGHT BLUE.

RON CAYCE WAS COMPANY OWNER/FOUNDER,
BARRACUDA ENTERPRISES WAS THE METAL POUNDER.
DENNIS FLICK, JR. DID SOME OF THE DESIGN.
FOUR OF THE 8 UNITS WERE SENT TO THE MIDDLE EAST,
LEAVING A MERE 4 IN AMERICA. THE COMPANY DISBANDED
WITHIN A YEAR. CAYCE WENT INTO MOTORCYCLES.

Pirahna

Here is a picture of the blue pirahna convertible that was displayed at the Detroit AutoRama a few years back.

I talked to Ron Cayce about the car, but was unable to schedule a follow-up visit for more pictures and information.

Image

I thought the lower grille area was a little "Cobra-esque", even with the fog lights. The whole front end (hood and tops of fenders) tilted forward like a late-model 'Vette (or an old XK-E). More pictures are posted in the Gallery.

That black '82 ascMcLaren Mustang was made by Barracuda Enterprises (Metalpounder) and Peter Muscat and was "THE" car Muscattook to FoMoCo Ford Division to get corporate sponcership and they turned him down! Sent him over to Mercury Division who wanted a 'Vert, as'Verts were coming back (Rviera, Eldorado, Dodge 400, LeBaron, etc). Mercury liked it...and well the rest was history....
