Yeah, I was thinking the same thing. They better get their order into Ford ASAP!

Maybe they're already on the trucks and Sandy isn't letting us know!

You guys know about as much as I do right now.

Well, yes, I also doubt the 2005 MSOs. There is more that I know, but can't say. It deals with WHERE they will be built!

There may be a few small other "touches" (rather than MODS) but noting major. The cars are GTs and have every option on them so, w/out the mod they'd be around $31,000. The mod adds $15,000 ~ which is just about waht it was in 1990.

I read this somewhere recently (a few weeks ago or more) but cannot find a link handy. Its probably old news to a bunch.

It seems that Ford cannot take anymore 2005 Mustang orders. And if you haven't gotten into the pipeline, your order may very well have been rolled over to a 2006 model.

So I guess there won't be a 2005 Mclaren Mustang.

Yeah especially the GT's. They did a poor job of anticipating the demand...although not that bad of a thing...A buddy of mine waited over 5 months for his 05 order. He finally got it but apparently his was one of the last ones...

I heard a rumor there was a patent infringement issue with the MyColor dash option that caused a lot of delays with the GTs. Anybody heard anything about that?

Funny you should bring that up. To bring everyone up to speed. I was going to take my truck and trailer from NJ down to sunny Florida and buy a 90 "Snowball" edition from Uncle Henry. Then I ran into a little medical issue and my wife insisted we fly. Got down there and found Snowball was "not as described". However, Henry had two sub 5K mile 1988's for sale, one blue and one red. If I had brought the trailer, I would have bought the blue one. So, after hanging out with Henry for a couple of hours, my wife and I headed out toward Orland and she convinced me I did not want a "museum" piece at this stage of my life. And she was right.

So, we get back to NJ and Sandy tries to broker a deal with a friend who was thinking of selling his 25K mile McLaren. But again, the car is close to a museum piece. Now, I had also been in contact with a guy from upstate NY about his 81 year old father's McLaren (it had been on eBay). The father wanted $12.5 for it, I offered $9.5 (88, Azure blue/blue interior/blue top w/ 5-speed and 42K miles). At the time, the car needed an AC recharge, white garage paint buffed off the body side molding (eye sight was going), a dent lifted from the hood and a new top. The father agreed to drop to $11.

At the same time, my wife wanted to look at a PT Cruiser convertible. FOund a Turbo version in red with black cloth top and interior. Because I know the group sales manager (an old drag racing buddy), they want to sell at invoice. Not interested. Plus $2K back from Chrylser? Nope. Another $2K off because we want to move the car? I'll think about it. Contact the guy in upstate NY and tell him my offer for $9.5 is good till 3PM on Friday (it's a Wednesday). Friday 3PM comes along and I agree to buy the Cruiser. At 3:20 the guy calls and makes a counter offer of $10. Oh well. Since then they converted the AC to 134a and buffed the paint and had it back out on eBay. Still hasn't sold. What a waste of listing fees. Probably spent more than the $500.

As far as my McLaren asperations go...my wife loves the Cruiser. So much that she has made rumblings about wanting the car as her driver when the lease on her Escape is up. At that time, I'll be back in the market for an 86-90 McLaren again. Unless a deal too good to pass up comes up ...

I saw that blue on on e-bay, too. I've seen ALOT MUCH WORSE, than it was, but somehow, it just didn't move me because I had the feeling they were hiding something much worse. Maybe I was wrong - but that was the feeling I came away with....

PT Cruisers don't move my excite needle much past a +1.5 ~ I have an acquaintence who feels towards them as does your wife. He is on his 2nd one. The first one he bought, he was UNsure if he'd like it, so he bought out-of-stock a pretty basic one. Then after falling passionately head over heels in love with it, he traded it back in and ordered the most expensive model, complete with every option Chrysler offered on them, and then had the exterior "Woody" package installed. With the top down it looks terrific! White Turbo Cruiser with all that natural wood. But the top is black and when up, it doesn't look as good i.e. black over white & brown wood. For what he paid, he coulda had a Mustang GT 'Vert, fully loaded, but he's not a Mustang type of guy. VW Rabbit to New Beetle to PT Cruiser !

Oh, I don't think Eric wants to part with "Paris Blue" ~ Other than my 90's I'd say his is the most perfect & original museum example that I have actually seen in person. I actually found it - but couldn't buy any more of them, and told Eric about the car & he ran up & grabbed it.

He added the wood sides and rear appliques which were expensive + dealer body shop installation. He paid around $34,000 for it, last January.

My mom's got a PT Cruiser Turbo....midnight blue. Ordered it as soon as they were available....so she probably has one of the very first Turbos in the NE. She loves it to death. Its a total blast to drive with the turbo. I wanted to get one to replace my probe GT when we were expecting our first. I'm glad I didn't as the second one came along quickly after and the PT Cruiser isn't big enough as a 4 family car.

I drove the non turbo and I would never get the automatic. It is a dog. The manual is better as you can control the RPMs but the Turbo w/automatic is the ticket.
