I have an 1986 asc McLaren with a battery that has 550 CCA. My son says that is to small for that car. He's probably right as I sometimes get slow cranks. What size battery should I have? Thanks in advance for any and all responses.
Should be fine, You may want to test the battery if older. Also if slow cranking when hot could be a starter going bad or worn, dirty, or corrsion on the battery cables which is common on these cars.
What Group size battery is in the car? I think OE size grp 56
Battery cables...they are the biggest culprit. They will sometimes rot out from the inside. Also, the battery cable to the starter is the worst and it rarely gets changed because of the difficulty.
550CCA is just fine. No need for more.
