Original Floor Mats

Post by svo413 »

Anyone have a picture of the original ASC floor mats? Are the ones currently available by Henry close to the originals?

Here are the originals:

I haven't seen the current ones available from Henry but I don't think they have the darker portion.

No, Henry's aren't the same. They're nice--expensive, but nice. They are probably more durable than the OE ones that always came apart. I have two sets of the originals, but they only get used for shows.

Are the ones shown above correct for 88? I can see them used for the 84-86 cars.

Just curious here if the ones from Henry are really worth the extra cost.

floor mats.

Post by Kentennis »

I'm not sure about the 88's but my floor mats, which I'm pretty sure are original since the car only has 24,000 miles, say; '5.0 SC' on them across the bottom of the inset part. I can't post pics. My %*()$@# computer has a problem and my 'guy' is on vacation for a month. TYhe mats are tan with the inset being brown.

Mats

I suspect the 87-90 mats are different. I don't recall seeing an example any place. My car is low miles but we are at least the third owner. The first two owners were not concerned with it being original as the radio and wheels were swapped out.

The mats in my car seem to be higher quality than OEM and appear similar to early mats in looks. Quality is not the same. There is a name on the backing "Matco" I believe.

It's possible the early mats were used for a while and then phased out with no replacement. As for MCA Judging, unless the mats are attached the the car, they are not judged. Yes they may have clips but only OEM attached mats count, so no Fox bodies.
