Recaro seat construction question

Can anyone tell me if the Recaro seats are bolted or welded onto the sliding seat track. I am thinking about replacing them with seats from an Audi.

The Recaro's are starting to tear pretty bad and I don't want to destroy the foam pading anymore.

I thought that if the seat track is easily separtated from the seat, then it would just be a matter of bolting a 3/16" piece of plate steel to the tracks and welding the Audi seats to the plate.

Has anyone done anything like this?

The Recaros are bolted to floor adapter. Left and right floor adapters are different. I don't recall what the seat track looked like but there is a verticle bolt tab on each end where it bolts to the floor adapter. 4 bolts total per seat. I believe the seat track bolts to the bottom of the seat frame with 2 bolts on each side. I would think the floor adapter is the only car specific part.

Let me see if I have this straight.......

From the bottom up.......

First there is the floorpan/ seat riser...... ie the floor of the car
then there is the floor adapter
then there is the seat track
then there is the actual seat frame

Am understanding you correctly?

If so and the seat is bolted to the seat track it should not take much work to create a new adapter plate between the seat track and the Audi seats.....

Yeah...... right...... it always takes twice as much work/money as you first estimate.....

Yes, you have it correct. I would go out and look but the wife took the car to work today. At the end to the seat track, the frame bends down 90 deg. and bolts (metric) to the floor adapter.
