Looking for McLaren vert top cover (tonneau fiberglass)

Post by WilliamWalker »

Hello all,

I have a '93 5.0 LX vert that I am getting into racing with. I'd like to remove the top for weight purposes, and instead of looking into a cavernous hole where the top used to be, I wanted to aqquire the top fiberglass body piece that would make it look like a McLaren with the top down. Are there any companies selling this piece, or a source that has McLarens to part out?

Lastly, I don't know all the parts I'd need to make the swap. I was thinking of hiding my NOS bottle in the cavity, and have the lid held down by druz fasteners, or something with a key type lock, so someone walking by couldn't just help themself to my bottle.

If anyone can help get me started in the right direction, I'd greatly appreciate it.

Thanks,
William Walker

Oh, and this is what it'd be going on:

The rear tonneau cover could be purchased from www.ascmclaren.com.

I think he has some used stuff.

Thanks for the link. I've been on the website recently, though, and it looks like he sells a tonneau applique, which apparently is only the leather, or vinyl cover, not the whole piece.

Anywhere else I could try?

Thanks,
William

Hmmm....I wonder if a high end stereo shop could make it for me. They make high quality fiberglass dashes, and whatnot. Hmmm, I might have to start making some calls.

CALL him. His website is by far not at all representative as to what he has or can get ahold of.
