Things to be aware of:-
1). It's a repaint. I looked it up. It was originally "Royal Gold Metallic".
2). ascMcLaren did NOT offer Hot Yellow in 1989. 1989 was THE onlyyear that there was no yellow. ascMcLarens vehicle listing AND the shipper's listing BOTH show it as Royal Gold.
3). The top is a replacement & not OEM
4). Allthough the seller claims they are factory floor mats, they aren't.
5.) Obviously the wheels are also custom.

Wait a moment ~ I just remembered something. I have to go thru a mountain of stuff. 1 - 1989 Royal Gold Car, I now recall was ascMcLaren repainted BEFORE it left. It was repainted in HOT Yellow, I goota go check volumes. Be back in an hour!

Ya, one ##$%# HOUR to find the MEMO ! THAT IS THE CAR ! It was built Royal Gold, Grey Interior & Black Top. It was going to a dealer, but was UNsold. ascMcLaren got a request for a yellow one. It was the last car with an interior that would go with yellow. They asked ordering dealer if they send the buyer to them, could they re-paint it. Everything was ok'ed and the car was pretty much taken apart totally and was sanded down and re-painted in 1987/1988 HOT Yellow and put back together & shipped. So, you could say that it's a factory 1-off, the only '89 made BY asc in HOT Yellow........It's always been in michigan, and I think there's another photo of it on this site in Tom's Fotki ablum, but I think it's under 1988, but I have a hunch it's this same car....bedtime

It certainly looks nice. I am impressed that the seller does not have a reserve. He is new to ebay, it seems, and may not under the binding nature of an ebay auction, so I wonder if he will actually sell the car if the price does not meet his liking.

The last McLarens to arrive at dealerships WITH mats were the 1986 Converts & Coupes. The Mustangs did not include mats. Hank has some that look dead-on for factory however and are well worth his price. From what I have seen, his color match the interiors, and they look factory. They have the familiar ascMcLaren logo in contrasting color. See his site!

I bought mine from Hank. I have to say they are very nice quality however I remember something I thought could be better think it was color or lettering. My car is in the shop right now so when I get a chance I will take a ride up there and check it out.

Here are the ones I got from Hank, a looooong time ago. I like them because the lettering is larger. This picture is not so good but they are very very very nice in person:

Am I correct that Hank doesn't have the lookalikes for the '86 convertibles? I looked on his site a while back, and didn't see any. I have the originals that came with the car, but they are rather stained.

I JUST FOUND IT! HEREWITH VERIFIED VIN 183555 WAS INDEED ORIGINALLY "ROYAL GOLD METALLIC" AND ORDERED BY A DEAELR IN MICHIGAN FOR "STOCK" (READ: UNSOLD) ~ BUYER WANTED THE 1987/1988 HOT YELLOW, AND WANTED IT YESTERDAY!! BUYER WAS WITHIN 50 MILES OF DEALER AWAITING THE ROYAL GOLD CAR THAT WAS 85% FINISHED. DEALER AGREED TO HAVE CAR REPAINTED, AND WAS SHIPPED THERE AND EAGER BUYER TOOK DELIEVERY. CAR IS LISTED ON MASTER LIST AS ROYAL GOLD METALLIC, LIGHT & MEDIUM TITANIUM GREY INTERIOR AND BLACK ROOF. THEN HAS A * AND BELOW IT SAYS "REPAINTED HOT YELLOW". THERE IS ALSO ANOTHER 1989 EXAMPLE THAT WAS REPAINTED. ORIGINALLY MADE IN "ROYAL GOLD METALLIC" WITH SAND BEIGE INTERIOR AND A TAN ROOF, THE CAR WAS ASC/McLAREN REPANTED BEFORE LEAVING TO 1987'S "ALPINE GREEN METALLIC" WITH THE ALLREADY INSTALLED SAND BEIGE INTERIOR & THE ORIGINAL TAN ROOF. THAT CAR'S VIN IS # 222539. IT HAS NOT YET FOUND ME ! :D

Edit: Strangely, no 1987s, 1988s nor 1990s were ever ascMcLaren repainted AFTER their first ascMcLaren repaint !
