I found this car at that dealership about a month ago, at which time it was on the showroom floor, top down. His asking price I seem to recall was $17,000.00 which I thought was high. I love the car, but wish they had left the stock stereo in it. I don't doubt that the replacement is gang busters strong, but....that said, I'd still prefer to keep the originality of the OEM. The car looks to be excellent, but if interested, i'd still run a carfax on it. I could be wrong, on this, but, it is a gut feeling, so here she goes...
It could be a recovered theft. Why? 5,200 miles and it's sporting a replacement roof. WHY with 5,200 miles would she need a replacement roof? My guess is they cut the roof to get in, and probably stole the OEM stereo. Lastly the dash plaque is wrong (as are most 1988s). It could not be 1519 as 1,015 were made in total, added to the 479 of 1987, the highest # could be would be # 1,494. VIN 279525 was actually Dash Plaque # 1,405. Younger thieves seem to covet the Limited Edition Dash Plaques so I think they musta grabbed it before leaving, and that the 1519 is an ascMcLaren supplied replacement.
Other than these minor points, as I see it, it's a terrific example, driven only 258 miles @ year, but please....do a CARFAX !

Car is real but the dealership is a mess. I tried to buy it..they told me we had a deal and while I was waiting for paperwork they sold it to someone else. It was not ever stolen. The original owner is friends w/the owner of the dealership

I am showing it still for sale on Yahoo's listing but they can be wrong. The asking price for it was $17,995. Who knows what they got for it and I wouldnt trust it unless I saw the bill of sale.

I maintain that at some point it was broken into. It shows 100% of the signs ~~

5,000 miles and it wears a replacement top (because they cut the top to get in)

They say that the driver's door panel is loose, and needs to be re-atttached, or something to THAT effect. (Because the cu;prit FIRST tried to jimmy his way in by breaking to lock).

The car is 100% original, except the stereo. (Because THAT was stolen) !

I'd bet that the driver's side door lock does NOT respond to the power door lock switch.
