Well I finally joined the club...

Post by mustang marty »

I bought a 1985 ASC McLaren vert tonight. It was the white one on ebay that is a little rough. It's not perfect, but it is straight and a good place to start. After years being an enthusiast and hosting a ASC McLaren web page, I finally have one! :D

One of the things that I had set out to do when I first created my web site back in 1995 (Marty's Mustang Ranch), was to find out more about this little red vert that I kept seeing around. I could tell it was based on the Capri. At the time, I had heard of the ASC McLarens but I only thought they were the coupe. (I actually got to drive one back in 1984, but that is another story). Doing research through old magazines (There was nothing on the web at the time) I found out about the cars, its name, and how rare they are.

Armed with the info, I put up a page for the ASC McLarens with a note stating I would like to find out more info on these cars. Within a couple of months I receive an email from Sandy on his freind's account asking me to give him a call. (My how things have changed... Sandy didn't even have his own email or internet account back then ) That call led to a couple more discussions. He sent me the correct information and production figures. The rest is history....

So Sandy, you may now add me to the registry!

:D

So this is your first McLaren, Marty? It's cool that you finally secured one after such a long wait. Shall we now refer to you as McLaren Marty instead of Mustang Marty?
