85 coupe back on ebay

Lost interest sold my Harley to get this and want another bike. Great car just not my thing. I would want to modify it more if I kept it, and I feel that it could be taken back to stock from where it is now without to much trouble. None of the wiring or anything got butchered still have stock engine harness. Major thing missing are the stock heads but shouldn't be to hard to find heads date coded to 85. Anyone have a nice bike that wants a nice car?

Is the front airdam original to that car? It looks nothing like the one on mine.

It is not. I was told from the previous owner that the original got destroyed buy a parking block. I forgot all about the front air dam being incorrect. I have alot of people wathing the auction and looking at the ad. I don't get it I guess the mods are holding it back.

I would like to get $7500 out of it. Well see how the auction goes this time around. Last time I started it out at $7500. I like to start auctions out at what I need to get instead of having a reserve but that doesn't seem to work on ebay most of the time. If this was a clean 85 stang with these mods I would probably get it.

I dunno, alot of people hate reserve auctions too.

I dont think a mustang with those mods would sell for that much quicker than your car.

Yours is one of those cars where mods seem to actually hurt the value.

I'm sure yours will be a good buy for someone out there. It is a very clean and good looking car.

Unfortunately yes.

Plus the wrong air dam is hurting you too. That's a $600 repair right there to make it right (air dam + paint + stripes).

An everyday 4cyl LX Mustang benefits in value from a 5.0 swap but for a rare car, it hurts it.

In all, it's a nice car. Have you gotten any calls? Usually people sell these cars outside of ebay. Most of the nicer coupes have trouble breaking the $6k barrier.

You know what really hurts it?...that after market gauge hachet job. Get a new gauge cluster and bezel. That just screams hack hack hack.

Agreed, you should be able to pick up a complete guage cluster for less then $50 on ebay.

Yeah I know the gauge thing stinks. He did a nice job doing it but if your going to go that far I would have just took it out and hacked another one or put the autometer replacement panel in. So if it doesn't sell on ebay again I will probably change a couple things. Would you guys stick with the 85 MPH cluster or go with the 140 MPH? I seen a 140 MPH go on ebay right after I got the car for over $100.

A 140MPH would be a bonus in any buyer's eye. I have a 140MPH in my car now. The only mod for me really so far.

What has me baffled is that people are willing to bid ( or at least it looks that way) 6600( current bid when this was wrote) on a 1982 Black Magic Capri with many modifications, plus I don't see were the ad states it has the original block anywere, it doesn't have the original transmission. This car would be hard to put back to original.

Then there is the classic Blue and Orange 85 Mclaren, which in my eyes would be easier to put back to original ( I know the air dam is expensive), but it has the original block, the instrument cluster is easy to fix. I feel the 85 Mclaren will be worth more in the long run at it is a 4850 when this was wrote??

This does not make sense to me!!!

$5300 for the asc and 1 day to go.

Not too bad.

The Black Magic has new paint. Buyers HATE cars that need body work and a paint job. It usually costs them $3-5k.

Take that asc get it a shiny paint job and it would go for a good bit more.

I know my paint is 10 years old but this car still looks very good. I have had it to a couple of shows this year and had many compliments on the condition of the car. I hope the pics aren't making the paint look bad somehow. I was keeping a eye on that Black Magic car also it is definitly very clean but modified alot more than my car. All I can say is ebay has it's good and bad points some cars have no right going for the prices they do. No big deal the stock engine will get rebuilt this winter if it doesn't sell on ebay this time. Anyone have a 140mph cluster if it doesn't sell?

Ehhh... You have to take the pricing of the Black Magic auction with a grain of salt because the reserve isnt met and I'm sure either he or friends are bidding up the price.

You know what, I did go back and look at those pictures and the paint does look very good....there is just something about those pictures.

I think you need better pictures. Maybe a better camera or something.
