Sometimes when it first started it would shut off. The maf conversion seemed to help that though. It seemed to jump alot going through parking lots in first gear. I think it may have the b303 because of these issue but I could never find anyone to identify it.
I will check it out tomorrow and probably get a pic as well.

Yeah, the B303 will play much better with 87+ FI technology.
Sandy has similar problems with his 86 as well, from what he's described. It wants to shut off at startup too.

There is a thread at FEP on the B303 with the 86 cars and it would be great to help put some more pieces together with the 86 build.

Hey...I didn't know you were # 108 !

I am # 109, we are brothers! Yes, I have the B303 Cam. On warm start-up we ShAkE a bit, and at times we conk out 'round about 35-40 seconds running. On start-up we purr like a kitty and all is okay. The power the car has, (it's totally bone stock) is (I hate to use this word, but) AWESOME ! The throaty sound from the pipes is like a symphony ! Mi ne's a 4-Speed Automatic, with the 3.73:1 Traction Lok Axle.
Where I went to buy it they also had a Raven Black one with the Platinum Silver Striping, Decals, Logos. That car (I beleive) was also an automatic and had a manual pop-up Sun Roof. She was # 111. 110 was also there. He was a like black/silver decals, solid top 5-Speed Stick.
There were 3 EuroCouopes, All Oxford White, all Stick. Popsicle Orange single thin stripe set into the indentation in the side moulding, and F/R bumper mouldings. All 3 had stock Ford Am Fm Stereo with Cassette, No Alpine.
Then they had a boatload of 86 Verts from ascMcLaren. I recall counting a dozen of them.
The one I recall most vividly ('Cause I wanted it) was Platinum Silver with Dark Blue Recaro Seats, Premium Door Panels, Dark Blue Top Cloth,
Automatic Tranny, V-8 , Remote Control Illuminated Entry, Alpine Stereo with Cassette & Kenwoods and the Whistler Remote Radar System with
the mesh wheels. The mesh wheels had a polished silver rim, and center disc and the "spokes" (or mesh) was dark blue to match the car's roof. The center cap was the dark blue with orange ascMcLaren.
She was a knock out and was THE only car there of the 'Vert, that had EVERYTHING on the ascMcLaren MENU!! It was alot of $$$. They were looking for $27,500

Yes, I have checked out FEP many times. It was late, and I was not thinking clearly.
I would also like to find that forum topic.

These are some pic I found of my 1989 GT. I wrecked it when I was 17.
Very fast car for a 17 year old.
The guy that owned it previous to me, traded it for an Iroc-Z.
He had put a lot of performance parts on it.
I received as a graduation gift from my parents.
I pegged the speedo out at 140 and was still climbing shortly before the accident. There were four of us in the car at the time. Luckily no one was injured. We hit the telephone pole about five feet up and launched, landing on the roof 193 feet out into the field. The cops said they figured I hit the pole between 100-120mph. I don't remember alot about it from hitting my head on the steering wheel. I do remember seeing a building that was about 1/4 mile from the corner and downshifting. I broke the shifter handle off in third gear and locked up the brakes. We were going to party at a house off to the right of the corner. I had been at that house probably 1000 times before this. Moral of the story, Don't drive like a DUMBASS, keep it at the track.
Glad to hear you all made it thru that. Could've easily all perished in that one. The wrecked photos of the GT tell the story. I'm all grown up now (30's LOL) and luckily made it thru my teens and twenties around many fast cars. I can recall about 6-7 different nights if karma would've been not on my side I would've cashed it in. 1 time was in the McLaren in a chase with a camaro about 18 yrs ago, 2-3 times in the '65 Mustang - one going thru a small town with a railroad track slightly elevated and hitting the ramp @ over 100 landing perfectly thank god. The others times in other peoples cars I shouldn't have trusted.....
What I've learned is, like you, don't drive like a dumb ass, AND #2 - my son or daughter will NOT have a V8 anything, its a recipe for disaster. I know too many stories of young kids with fast machines not making it to the age of 20.......

No, my kids will not have anything fast. They will get to look at dads.
Yes I have had the train track experiences also. In the town I grew up in, there was one particular set that was great to get air on. It was located on a back road. It elevated probably 25 feet up and flattened out at the top with a stop sign about 100 feet past. I had an old 1980 Ford F150 that we would get up to around 50 mph and launch over it. Hitting the brakes while airborn on hopeing to land just before the intersection. Did that many many times.
We did a lot of stupid crap as teens. I don't like to see much more 80 on the highway anymore. I like to get to speed quickly but that is about it since the wreck.

It was a thread started about the B303 cam and how it wasn't a production cam because it was not emission compliant.
Of course the asc cars came up and I had to admit I have never had anyone confirm a B303 in their car. By "confirm", I mean I haven't heard of anyone pulling it out of an original 86 engine and physically verifying it as a B303.
A few people have verified the B303 in the 85s. A few people have also torn their 85s down and found the stock Ford cam too.

I was told that only the Coupes got it. No 'Verts.
How to tell idf yours has it:-
Start car. Let it idle. Once the temp gauge reaches the normal level
listen for a surging of the engine. The Tach will surge up, and then down and then up and then down and eventually (no more than 3 surges) she will stall.
Start cold engine car. Let her run, fed no gas! In less than 3 minutes, she dies.
Either of these indicates B-303. Try it with a Non ascMcLaren & if the car is in proper tune and all - but NOT a McLaren she will not do either of the above.

I have added a drawing for my cam showing the stampings on the end.
Maybe this will help identify it.

That's the trick. So many non-asc 86 cars are not in tune that they do very similar to what you describe. The 86 Fuel injection, while much better than the 84-85 central fuel injection is very temperamental and causes all kinds of surging and stalling if anything in the system is wrong.
