Neat story! I love stuff like this!
I was talking to my father in law a few weeks ago and he had just returned from his cousins in Ohio. He told me his cousin owns a "Mc-farlan"
as he said! He knows i have had quite a few of these
i corrected him nicley and i said you mean Mclaren and he said oh yes and his cousin want's to talk to me about it anyway yesterday i spoke to his cousin he is the original owner of i believe he said #243 all paperwork vert it is a red pristine 12k mile car as he said. I told him he needs to check out this site but he has no comp. We talked for about 30 min and he remembers talking to Sandy 3 years or so ago and told me Sandy wanted to buy this car but Sandys wife said no go
! Sandy do you recall this? He does want to sell and looking for around 20k i can put serious buyer who might want it in touch with him. Small world hu!

Sadly, (Or Gladly) I have spoken to in excess of 2,000 people regarding these cars, from as far away as London, Paris, New Zealand, Holland, Israel, many from Canada, even the Swiss Alps! I just cannot recall so many many people over 10 years. IF it was just 3 years ago, 'ya....I'm sure the wife said "NO" ~ something about college tuition for our offspring, or not having any room left, or sky high storage fees, but most likely my allready having 3 of these things, {that's alot??
} so, sadly .... NO, I do not recall, but that's funny what he called it. I had an opportunity to buy a low mileage 1990 Sea Foam Aqua with double white and IF IF IF I had been given "clearance from ground zero" ~ ~ That is THE one I would adopted. The Coral Red (Cranberry Pink) 1 of 1 turned out NOT to be the showroom mint concours pristine condition I had hoped it would be, so I forgot about it.

Hank now owns it, it's now in Florida. I actually would not call it "pink" ~ It's the color of Raspberry Ice Cream. Grey Interior & Black top.
Had I ever had the opportunity to actually SEE the color, back in 1990 I definately woulda bought it, BUT with the Claret-Wine roof and the white leather.

Are there any pics of it anywhere? I would love to see what it looks like. Perhaps we can ask Hank to post some pics of his own collection, I wonder what he has. that would be incredible.Sandy wrote:Hank now owns it, it's now in Florida. Guys,
I was visiting Henry about a year ago and got to crawl all over the "pink" car. Weird color. Think metalic pale rose. Had some rust in the rear wheel wells and a few other points that needed attending.
Sandy, I assume the aqua car you're speaking of is the one from upstate NY? I just couldn't get up the strength to talk with the guy, so I never called. And since I've invested so much time cleaning and replacing stuff in the 88 I have (it's amazing how much a 18 year old 16K mile car can degrade when not owned by a car nut), I don't think I'd part with it UNLESS it was uber-pristine.
BTW, after I hit the McLaren with several coats of Zaino this next week, I may actually take it out on the street. Then it's into the engine compartment to do a general cleaning, touch-up, gasket replace, etc. Then on to all the suspension bushings. My wife is really regretting telling me to just go ahead and buy it. Her new push is to sell the McLaren and the CObra and buy a Lotus ELise.

I had a Lotus for a day. It's a nice place to visit, but I would never wanna live there ! Skate board with a body on it. You rear end sits ON the skateboard.
Actually, I had two chances to get a Sea Foam Aqua & White 1990. One from California, and the other from upstate. The Calli car was bought by Hank & last I heard was in Indiana.
ascMcLaren never printed up color charts, (well, yes they did but only in 1989) so....I never had a chance to see any of the new-for-1990 colors and therefore, 'ya know, stuck to what I had seen.
I really like the Coral Red, but no way with grey interior & a black top.
If you recall, they had a "Wine-Claret" roof. That was a magenta maroon. I (now) do have the master color book heretofor belonging TO ascMcLaren with actual templates (metal) 12" x 12" and fabric & leather swatches, and laying it all out, the Coral Red with the Claret-Wine roof & either the Light Opal Grey or the Oxford White interior is dynamite. (Using the silver wheels, not not not the white.)
Another terrific combo of which none were made (1990) was the Royal Gold with the new-for-1990 white roof & white interior.
There were alot of neat combos available, of which none were ordered / made. Black-on-Black with white interior also comes to mind.
Actually few know this, but for $ 806.00 extra ascMcLaren would paint them any color you wanted. It was a "Special Paint Option" ~
Only 1 was ever made. (Of course it found its way to my phone #) and is in the Carolinas. It was ordered in 1977 Truimph British Racing Green and has a Sand Beige interior & a Tan roof. (It's a 1989 ~ I believe).
Now....... IF I had ONLY known of THAT option ! ^ ^
