Post by MIKE'SVO »

Found a 1985 convert. on craigslist last night. I called the guy today. The car is complete but is very rusty and needs a complete restoration. The car is located in Racine Co, between Racine and Milwaukee in WI. The guy's name is Matt. 414.732.1075

Just checking to see if anyone contacted this guy

Anyone pick up this car? The guy said that he'd part it out after a few weeks, if there wasn't any interest.

I talked to him awhile ago when the car was on ebay. It sounded pretty bad, and too much of a project for me.

I called him to see about parts and he insisted that he is not going to part it. He really wants it to be sold whole.

Huh??

Post by MIKE'SVO »

I thought he mentioned that if it didn't sell, he'd part it. Something about the parts being worth more than the car. Anyway, Eric, I didn't know it already made the Ebay route....not good. I guess a bit too much money for the condition??

I wasn't trying to be a smart*ss, I was just relaying the message. I wanted a few parts off of the car, but he would not sell them. It wouldn't be worth it for me to buy and have shipped, so if anyone here buys it to part, let me know.

WOW, hey guys. i bought it

hey guys, i just purchased that car. it is in rough shape kinda. few rust holes and needs doors, trunklid, front fenders, top, seats. i ended up picking it up for 1200. the guy who owned it lives about a mile from me. i was looking for a cheap mustang but found the capri.
the top is rough, missing the 3 windows in it.
i already replaced the front brake pads, calipers, rotors.
i have the fenders for it from a 81 capri that i parted out like 10 years ago, lol.
i know the owner of a junkyard so ill be picking up doors for it soon.
it has stock exaust but the y-pipe and catback are toast. so i just ordered a brothersperformance H-pipe and flowmaster catback. tomorrow im putting on new gas tank straps, if the tanks rusted out, i have one off an 84 lx mustang that i also parted out years ago. added a new battery too.
anyone know of a cheap place to get a top from? i cant see paying 750 for a new one when i can get one made cheaper. but i would rather buy one and put it on myself. also its #317 i thought they only made 257 in that year?
anyways, once im done with the body its staying black just like it came from the factory, any parts i take off im saving even if they are rusted out or damaged or ugly, lol.
the woodgrain has to go on the dash, i just bought the gauge bezel and passengerside bezel from a 86 gt mustang i plan on swapping into it. and yes im keeping the woodgrain somewhere in my garage of mustang parts.
my door tag is faded and the rearend tag is gone, anyone know what gears they might have put in this thing, its kind of a dog off the line. i would post pics of it but im not sure how to do all this html stuff.
any hints, or comments would be helpful in making this a decent car again.
thanks
