i think she meant the cover on top of the dash.
my guess would be either a cracked or sun damaged dash cover.
or maybe not.

Thanks for the answers. I did mean under that cloth embroidered with McLaren, but I was not sure what the other item was either. I wonder why they would just cover a bad dash. Anyone who would bid, would want to know what they are hiding. Oh, well, I have learned even when you think you have things checkedout, something is always missed.

By judging the condition of that car, I'd guess the owner put the dash cover on as a crack prevention measure. I doubt it's cracked.

Out west here, usually after you buy a new car you want to put a cover like that on the dash, or it will be toast in a few years. If the owner lived out here or the car came from out here that could very well explain the cover.

When I moved out here from Michigan I couldn't understand why everyone had a stupid cover on their dash, until i started looking at cars without them.
