I need to find a red Pontiac Astre . . . for sentimental reasons. Now there is a car that not a sole at a car show would remember seeing previously.

Somebody never learned the #1 rule of automobiles.

"You can sell a young man's car to an old man, but you can't sell an old man's car to a young man".

Buick and Olds should have been put down 20 years ago. The GN should have been a Pontiac.

None of them should have been killed off, including Oldsmobile, Pontiac, Plymouth or Imperial.

I'd like to see Toyota, Nissan & Honda killed off.

Thats what I thought too! Pontiac used to make so many cool cars, but for the last 15-20 years they've been going downhill. I mean, when you try to sell the public (who isn't high on drugs) an "Aztek"....... the end is near. The "Transport" - sad excuse for a minivan - geez that wedge front. AAHHHHH!!!! And unfortunately, they choked badly trying to bring back the GTO. Ok drive train, but the exterior?!?!?! WTF? THe reemergence of the GTO could've been so awesome.... too bad.

As far as GM's decisions, I still don't get - keeping GMC and Chevy Trucks, with the paring down of their lines GMC needed to go. You can buy all the same suvs and trucks with a chevy logo.....

ROFLMAO! I'm not gonna touch that Sandy, I'll spark off another firestorm...... but DITTO.

About Olds, Pontiac. THe problem was born a long time ago when GM started sharing platforms and basically engines then slightly changing exteriors and calling one a pontiac, one an Olds, one a Buick, and one a chevy.........remember the 80s? it was the worst for the 4 branded car mimic...... corsica, beretta, J2000, 6000, citation, sunbird, skylark, omega, riviera, and on and on..........anyone know when they actually started doing this? 70s? 60s? firebird/camaro...... shared identity.....

I just think it would've been cool to be around way back when all the car marques were different and had their own heritage, style, and personality.....40s & 50s........

I am sure they are all made on the same assembly line so a logo swap is probably no big deal.

Do you remember when Chevy killed off GMC? Yes, it happened fairly recently. Can anyone remember the year? Their truck sales TANKED. Rednecks...er "customers" who purchased GMC trucks could NOT be convinced to purchase a Chevy truck event though it was THE SAME TRUCK.

So Chevy ordered a bunch of GMC tags to toss on the Chevies...(not exactly, but pretty close).

I remember this cause my dad was looking to buy and the dealer said they were not going to have new GMC trucks that year. I can't seem to find the info on it though.
