1985 Capri/Mustang convertible - $1500 (Dolton)

For sale is a Rare 1985 ASC McLaren convertible #317 of 435. Im not going to waste my time with trying to explain to people who dont know about the McLarens, what it is. What I will tell you the car runs and drives. It is equipped with a holley 6140 4barrel, Edelbrock 289 rpm performer manifold and comp cam. Now originally the car came with a 2 barrel throttle body injection system but it held back the motor from its potential.

Now there are a few reasons I am selling it.
1. It was my daily driver for 2 years but not a family car and of course I have a family
2. It needs some work.(battery($60), intake manifold gasket($22))
3. The body and top are not in its best condition(top needs to be replace but as it is keeps the elements out)

For us Fox body fanatics out there this is an opportunity to get a real great deal on a rare fox body. I'm asking $1500 and at price I'm taking a loss because the motor and transmission alone is worth $3000 but I have to face the facts because of the condition of the body I'm going to have to take a loss. I will take any reasonable offer. #708-738-4687. If you want pix I can text them to you.

They say the condition of the body is a problem but don't specify what's wrong. Unless the body is a rusted out hulk - that's a steal!

I don't have room, time, or project funds for a 3rd vert, but if the body is solid and straight (which it appears to be) that's worth considering just because of the price.

He needs money REAL BAD!! It would be worth that to have spare driver and passenger windows. Too bad it would cost $800.00 or more to have it shipped to Florida.

I was thinking along similar lines. It is a shame that a deal like this isn't available locally.

1987 = 001 to 479
1988 = 480 to 1,494

1989 = 001 to 247
1990 = 248 to 300

Silver Anniversary INTENDERS 1200 to 1211

Of the intended 12, only 2 were made. The other 10 were not painted in the special silver pearl paint. Dash Plaques were 1204 & 1207,
the other 10 were made in red, white or black and have no 25th Anniversary markings on them, but do have the dash plaques of the series.

SO, the numbering on this Capri is in error! 50 in 1984, 257 in 1985 and 245 in 1986. For a total of 552 Capri McLaren Convertibles.

Took a look

I just returned from viewing this car after a 45 min drive and struck a deal. I'm bringing it home on Sunday and it will join the 87 I bought on Valentines day. I'm having a good year so far, but alot of work ahead to bring it up to spec. JL

Congrats on the purchase! If you have an opportunity, post some photos of the car when you get a chance. Thanks and good luck with it.

Pics

Post by darkhorse40 »

They are on the c/l ad, but I won't get it home till Sunday, so pics will be forthcoming.

The particulars are that it has a different power plant that was bored and stroked. Comes out to about 350 cubes I think he said. He didn't like the 2 barrel FI so he swapped. Said it was starved for power.

The body has two spots of rust that can be taken care of with a little skill and is badly in need of a paint job. The top can be worked with. Not the original wheels, they are ten hole painted black.

Electrical is altered to make functional.

Exhaust needs a little work.

It drives itself is the upside.

Nothing so bad that a guys with good hands can't fix.
