I wonder what the history of this car is...he changed the interior to black, as I have had to do for lack of parts and money.
Regular fox interiors are 10c/12, and if yours looks like c##p, it is financially prohibitive to go with the asc parts.
Even the used ones are pretty pricey.

"Speedometer, title and AUTO FAX listed mileage as 36K. When I registered it, I put 136K because I wasn't sure. "
Huh???
Mmmm.... maybe not quite kosher.
I wish the people who decide to change the wheels/int/ext/engine parts on our cars would decide to keep them in storage for later use as I did.
The guy I bought my 89 from kept and gave to me the oem:
Tranny
radio
shift knob
etc...
When I decided to install an audiophile quality system and after market wheels I kept in safe storage:
oem wheels
rear cooler
factory alternator
etc...
When I installed performance parts I kept the oem:
distributor
throttle body
air intake assy.
cooling fan
drive shaft
drive pulleys
MAF
etc...

I did not like the color of my 87 interior.
Thanks, Mike. I didn't know you could do that.

See there!
That is why it is nice to hang around on this site with you experts. I learned two things from the posts on this thread.
1. That black interior was not original on this car.
2. That you can dye leather upholstery.
What brand dye do you recommend using on tan/creme colored door upholstery that has lighter colored streaks?
(I suspect from a strong cleaner that was used in the past)

Are you sure it is leather and not vinyl?
For leather:
http://www.leatherique.com/
For Vinyl/Plastic, you can get matching dyes/paint from FMR I think. Metro finishes used to be the place to go but they stopped selling it.

I'll bet you are right.
The Recaro Seats are leather, but the door upholstery is probably vinyl, naugahyde, imitation leather, or whatever ASC used on them.

The VINYL door panels are stock Mustang GT.
It's the elongated arm-rest and the section with the perforated
little holes that are ascMcLaren pieces. they too are vinyl.

Sandy,
If that is the case, are the door panels on an 85 then, the regular GS Capri panels other than the pull?

87 McLaren (Springfield
Sandy, That is my 87 that is listed on craigslist in springfield. I purchased it in Detroit in July 09. It came from CA to Detroit, somehow was repoed and sold at auction. A lawyer purchased it and ran it on auto trader.com. I went up, bought it and trailered it back to MO. It had really been abused. The entire interior had been changed out. Looks as though the console and armrests came out of a 88 LX. The wheels were really beat up, the tires were dry rotted. I have been working on it ever since. I had to completely rebuild the undercarriage. I have replaced about everything in the engine compartment but the engine. The drive train is as sound as it was the day it came off the assembly line. I had to replace all seals other than the muckets. The windshield was shattered. As I said it was a mess. All the paperwork had 36k on it, but as I said, since MO is tough on vehicle mileage, I registered it with 136k. I have tried to find original wheels, but without success. Between Henry and E-bay I have found most of the parts I need. I had spinal surgery in Nov. Doc said my wrench turning days are over. I promised my wife that I would put it up for sale, didn't tell her that I would sell it, that's why the price is jacked up. ESP
