I like this one, except for the tail lights & seats. That rear valence looks good on fox chassis stangs, as well as the Mach hoods.

This 1988 ASC McLaren Mustang 5.0 convertible 5.0 with automatic transmission and air conditioning has only 68,849 miles on the odometer. ( Miles... not kilometers... as it is an American car with an American odometer ).

The car was purchased while I was in the United States, properly imported to Canada and properly registered.

It's history : This car was originally bought in New York by a fireman, sold to a State Trooper in Georgia and then to me in Pennsylvania. So... it was not exposed to the type of underbody rust that Canadian Mustangs of the same year suffer.

What makes it unique ? Take a look at the pictures and that should clearly show you that this is unlike any other Mustang convertible you have seen or been offered the opportunity to buy locally.

The McLaren Mustang is the ONLY two seater Mustang ever authorised by Ford for production and sale exclusively at Ford dealerships. There is no rear seat... just two storage areas in the style of the early Corvettes.

The convertible three window top ( same style as the Mercedes ) hides completely. They were a very limited edition production vehicle and almost all of them were sold in the United States. This is a very unique car in Ottawa or even in Ontario.

It has a gray interior with high bucket leather seats. The McLaren rims were upgraded to the 1988 Saleen deep dish rims. We also upgraded to the Cervini all fiberglass Mach1 Mustang style NASA hood. The engine is stock and untouched except for a minor cam upgrade by the McLaren production team.

The automatic transmission has no problems and only a leisurely 68.8k miles on it.

What's it need ?
a ) a fresh coat of paint or a thorough polishing ( no bodywork needed -).
b ) a new convertible top ( the original one works fine... but it would be a worthwhile investment )
c ) a heater core replacement ( which isn't overly important since it is usually not needed during the summer. Currently it is simply bypassed )

The first $6000 cash takes it.

Sorry. We are not looking to 'trade'. We are downsizing from a house to a condo apartment and that is the only reason I am selling my cars.

I'd be more interested in the Trans Am than the McLaren. But that back window turns me off!! Prices seem to be reasonable.

If needed I got contacts in that town. And I even think one of them told me he talked to the ASC owner once in a car show. My friend owns a DeTomaso Mangusta.
