Quarter window question
Quarter window question
Does anyone have a good article or info on how to install the quarter window trim, the tinted pieces that fit over the window itself. Also, what are the trim pieces just behind the quarter windows made of and does anyone know where to find replacement parts for them?

Sometimes they are on e bay. Hank has them, too. From ascMcLaren, they were glued on, and willingly fell to the floor in car washes.

Kyle...An article? Heheh. In your dreams. Like there's some monthly publication devoted to asc cars for "articles".
Seriously though, my frames were installed by my body guy when he redid the car. Do you not have the frames? If you have the frames there...then you need to call Jank...er "Hank" at ascmclaren.com and get some weatherstripping. You put the weatherstripping at the top rear and bottom sides of the frame and slide the blackout plexiglass in. If you HAVE the weatherstripping but its too THICK. You probably have the OLD stuff Hank was selling unless you bought it very recently.
I have not attached my sail panel insterts....but I will probably figure something out. Ask Hank what people use...he might have an idea.

I thought maybe you had something like you did for painting interior and console differences, I didn't see anything on your site so I thought I'd ask. I have part of the frames and the plexiglass or whatever it is but i don't have the piece that makes the glass stay in, the vertical piece i guess you could call it. I didn't realize it needed weatherstripping and I didn't see any part of the frames on Hanks site. Maybe when I figure it out I'll do a step by step.

The vertical piece has 2 holes in itfor the screws, and it's flat black. I'd try Hank for it. Ditto on the weatherstripping. While you have Hank ask about the screws. I lost one of mine, it just fell out, and I had to go to 3 hardware stores to get the correct one, even AFTER removing the other one from the moulding to show the man what it was I needed. The OEMS are black, and stores only have silver ones. I painted it with 2 coats of flat black to match. If Hank has the proper original screws, it will be easier 4-U.

Don't sweat it. I was just teasing.Kyle wrote:I thought maybe you had something like you did for painting interior and console differences, I didn't see anything on your site so I thought I'd ask. Yeah, like Sandy said, call hank and get the vertical pieces and the weatherstripping....and screws.
Sandy says that they are flat black....thats interesting as the rest of the trim is charcoal grey. Sandy, are you sure its not supposed to be charcoal grey? It looks grey from your photos of your car.

Not sure, really if one would call it charcoal grey or flat black. Pretty damn close. I'd call it an either / or ..... just don't mix & match !
