Fog lights

how do the fog lights mount into the front air damn? what does the connector look like? I cant find any loose connections under the front of the car. Also what does the air compressor for the air horns plug up to and where is it mounted?

GOOD QUESTIONS! I have asked that many time...and I think I can answer most...

#1 The fog lights come "apart". The back of the housing will come off if you unscrew the screws that are in the front. You will need to put the front half into the air dam fog light hole and drill two holes where those screws go. Then put the screws in and bolt the back half of the fog light on from the back....basically sandwich the air dam between the foglight housing.

#2 I don't know exactly what electrical connectors Ford used either. I have an 84-86 foglight wiring harness that I will mount to the front of the car. I also have pigtails from some foglights I will solder to the hella foglights. That way they can be plugged in like Ford would have done the Marchals. As far as I know, there is no foglight bracket as these coupes were GS cars from the front....so I have no idea what Ford used or how they attached it to the car.

#3 The 86 and 85 air compressors were mounted in different spots. There is a great picture of Sandy's 86 Full Package Coupe with the air compressor.....somewhere in these forums. It is bolted to the passenger inner fender and the hose and wires go in the hole that would normally be used for the air cleaner on the 85 cars. The horns are mounted INSIDE the fender towards the front of the car somewhere. There is surgical tubing connecting the air compressor to the horns. The compressors should have a relay which goes to the horn....not sure at all how they hooked that up.

Sweet, thank you so much. The horns are still in place but the canister was not. If it does hook up to the standard horn relay I need to find out why mine doesn't work, maybe I'll install the compressor in the right spot and try it again. I found what looks like a foglight wire harness in one of the boxes we got with the car but i cant find any connections on the car itself. The connections on the harness look like the ones for the regular capri and the foglights i have don't have any connections at all, just seperate wires.

Yes, the lights themselves have no connectors at all. Somehow they get spliced in. How? I don't know and nobody else has really said how it was done.

When Sandy gives me his 86 coupe, I'll deconstruct it and let you know.

The air horn compressor on the '85 flooded vert is on the driver side right behind the radiator support.
Mike, thanks for the pictures. I haven't gotten to troubleshooting the air horns yet, but everything is intact, just don't work.

yay, got the horns working (still ringing in my left ear

) Fog lights still don't work though, need to go through the electrical system on the car i guess.

Have you checked the fuse panel? That was the problem with mine, the fuse was blown. The horn uses the stock hookups and fuse panel
