Trojan Horse

Post by negusm »

I must have gotten about 100 email messages with a trojan horse attached to it.

They were sent to random names to the ascmclarencoupe.com domain. I don't see how anybody (but me) would be affected but I thought I'd at least let people know. ANY email sent to this site, gets bounced to my road runner account.

If anybody somehow gets an email from this site (like brent@ascmclarencoupe.com) with an attachment, do not open it....especially if it has a "pif" extension.

Basically, it looks like somebody wrote a script to take 100 common names, append a domain name to them and send out a trojan horse...so I have tons of emails that were sent to:

brent@asmclarencoupe.com
linda@ascmclarencoupe.com
fred@ascmclarencoupe.com
email@ascmclarencoupe.com
tom@ascmclarencoupe.com
etc, etc, etc

Since everything is forwarded to a single account, I get them all.

BTW if you cannot remember my email address, you can always make one up like "forgotyouremailaddress@ascmclarencoupe.com" and it will get to me. As long as the domain name is correct, I will get it.

I know we have a Tom and a Brent so maybe someone is spidering the site using those names with the board url as the extension...

On message boards I try to spell out my email address to avoid that stuff...
for example:
n20capri at comcast dot net

Friggin' people don't have better things to do??

They pulled a few email links off the site...
whatisanascmclaren@ascMcLarenCoupe.com
email@ascmclarencoupe.com

Some even look like bounced email messages from "Postmaster", blah blah blah...

But 3/4 of them are just first names pulled out of a hat. I think brent and tom were just lucky guesses.

I gotta figure a way to filter the crap. Its too blasted annoying.
