Eurocoupe stripes

Post by bigzeke42 »

Sandy, can you tell me where the stripes go on a Eurocoupe and if any logos and does anyone have pictures of them?

It's only an Ornage single stripe, and i goes 360 degrees all around the car on that thin little ridge in the side moulding & front & rear bumpers. It is the width of a paper match.

On the quarter windows (side) down low just above the moulding in the corner nearest the door opening is a small version of the ascMcLaren logo. One on each side. On the rear hatch, right side is the ascMcLaren logo like the one on the hood, but I think it's smaller in size. That's it.

I found pict on Toms Fotki album but none of them will work, all RED Xs. Maybe in a few days, then you can see. ALL Euro came with the orange wheels.

Zeke,

Here is a picture of a EuroCoupe (ignore the aftermarket pinstripe that is on the upper part of the car).

Image

Sandy, for the decklid badge, was it not the same badge as what was on the grill? (chrome self-adhesive)
I thought there shouldn't be anything on the hood, and that the hood decal was an '84-'85 Coupe only thing.

There should be NO hood decal on any 1986 Euro or non Euro!
There was on the Euros that I have seen the SAMEdecal as was ON the hood of the 1984/85 coupes, however downsized about 50 % In other words, much smaller or about 1/2 the length and about 25% less tall.

Pics # 12 13 14 15 but right now they are not working. Try later

Sandy,

I realize that, however the way you worded this:

the one on the hood, but I think it's smaller in size. That's it.
It sounds as if you were saying that it should have one on the hood as well, no offense, just trying to keep it clear.

As far as the picture of the black EuroCoupe in Tom's album, the rear shot shows what appears to be both the decal on the right and the chrome self-adhesive badge on the left. I have seen a picture of another EuroCoupe that had just the badge only, no decal which made me assume that just the badge is correct.

Here is that picture I have of the rear, it's actually of the same car as above.
Single chrome badge on the passenger side that appears to be the same one that was used in the grill.

I see it. I don't know. The FEW Euros that I have seen in person or factory photo have the familiar ascMcLaren decal (orange) like the one on the hood, but as said, smaller, but nowhere near as small as that chrome emblem. My guess is about 7" long and about 2" in height.

Just kidding with ya. I was shown them by a represenative that came to see me from ASC - back in 1988. He brought alot of good stuff with him and I got to look at them. Everything he had I asked, please please could I have, and everything I asked for I was told NO! We went out to eat and all & discussed alot of McLaren stuff and opportunities in marketing and all. When he went after dinner to the bathroom, I Ummmm, I borrowed some of the stuff he would not give me. Okay, I freakin STOLE it ! Happy ?? Only thing(s) I ever stole. I could not get THAT photo, or for that matter any of the other photos, including the press shots of the changed 1989 Mustang McLaren. The photos were too darn big & he would noticed. I did clip alot of stuff, regardless. You know that "Here's How....." booklet...... Well.......

Okay? How's THAT for repenting? !! 3 days early!

Ok, I'll sit back off the edge of my seat now.
Can't blame you for taking what you could without him knowing.

And I am sure that 99% of that stuff would have been thrown away within a year or two anyway or at the very least, they probably had duplicates of originals that were kept back at "headquarters".
He could have at least taken a bribe from you and said that his bag was stolen at the airport.

I didn't wanna get caught. I had allready seen every single page. Some of it I had, some of it was very redundant, and some was just too large to "hide" on me-self :D

I really wanted most of all that Here's How We Build Them
catalog for FoMoCo line workers at Dearborn Assembly plant.
THAT was by far, the best thing. I was sorry that I DIDN'T get the supplier
listing that I saw. To this day I am sick that the floor mats maker was PROBABLY on it ! I was overwhelmed, because there was just so so much stuff. My eyeballs were spinning! He was a nice man, nevertheleass.
