About 5 or 6 or 7? years ago there was an 85 or 86 Paris Blue vert here in Hickory on a classic car lot for sale. The price was out of my reach, so I passed. About a year or so later, it showed up on a local used car lot. My oldest son had connections to the car dealer who told him that we could buy the car for $2500. I had to pass again.
The car also had Paris Blue wheels, radar detector, etc. My son called Hank and was told it MIGHT be a one off. Too late, it was sold and went up north.
Thus, I bought the 85 flooded vert because I vowed that I wasn't going to let that happen again. I also passed up an 84 Predator Mustang in Hickory later.
Just a message to all.

I not once not twice but 3 times passed up on opportunities to buy an '86 LX 5.0 coupe painted Dark Sage. If anybody hasn't seen the color it's almost like an Army Green but with some shine to it. Ford only made around a half dozen of them but each time I had just bought a different car. The first time I had bought the McLaren, the second a new '93 Ranger, and the third was 2004 after I had bought my red '86 LX 5.0 coupe. The car is still around here somewhere and I was flabbergasted when I saw it the third time at a car show and waited and waited for the owner to come by and almost missed him. He was probably wondering who the kook was gushing over his green car.
So I had to tell him the whole story and he found it amusing but promised me first chance to buy it but alas it's apparently not to be.
The second car was an M81.
It was for sale for awhile by a seller who thought it was gold plated so there was no way anybody was going to actually buy it, this was 1992 or so. A year or two or three later it was in the regional Auto trader type of book at about half of what the first guy wanted, he apparently owed the auto trader book guy some money and it changed hands. Well, low and behold the price went down even more but as with the green '86 I had just bought a new car, my new '95 Cobra that I traded the McLaren for. The M81 was always my dream car and this was probably my last chance to have gotten one fairly cheap. It had like 6 miles on it but needed paint to make it look new again and I really got to see how cobbled together they were. The bodywork looked like a slam bam thank you ma'am attempt at homologating a body package for IMSA racing.
The second car was an M81.
