'84 Capri factory takeoff door glass w/ brackets

Post by 50dan »

I recently come across a barn full of factory Ford takeoff parts mostly from the ASC McLaren conversions. I have RT and LT side door glasses from '84 Capri's with brackets available for $50 each no shipping. I'm in Cinti, OH and you can pick up or I'll meet within 10 miles. Might ship if you cover all costs. Have pics avail but can't figure out how to post them here.
Thanks Mike! :D

Can you shed some light as to how you came accross this stash? Did you work for asc? Did somebody you know work for them? Did they help with the conversions?

It's always a big deal when we find anyone associated with these cars and can tell us anything about them....really, anything, we love the smallest tidbits.

Would love to see a close up of the window sticker. I see a code on there that I do not recognize V18 or V1B. Followed by the word "code" but the rest is blurred by refliction. I see a credit delete on the stereo and A/C included. The unknown codes would be so kool to know...I got to thinking, ASC threw out 552 bubble hatchs complete with windows with defroster wires, 1,104 Bucket Seats (except for a handful of 6-Cyl cars that kept the original seats), 552 center consoles, 552 pairs (1,104 singles) Seat belts/holders, 552 Ash Trays and God knows what else. How about 2,208 1984-1986 302 V8 wheels ?

Yes, I've always said that they were built on the GS base car, but to Spec Code D32 ascMcLaren, as you can see by the crayon chalk marking on the windows to I.D. them to line workers. The 302 V8 was indeed an option on a GS !

I don't have any ties to ASC or Ford/Mercury but heard that the owner of the building being torn down did. I don't know where he is now. Sorry but the windows with VIN'S are not for sale.

Wait Wait, so I understand ~ when you say the windows with the VINs are not 4-sale, you mean the windows with the factory applied paper window stickers listing the equipment? So we can't buy them ? Is that correct, or am I missinturpting it? If that is correct, can I ask WHY ?

50dan, you can post a link here to your ebay auctions where you're selling the other parts if you want:

Keep us posted on what you come up with. It's all interesting stuff.

I want to try and preserve the window stickers, therefore the windows that have them are not for sale right now, but it would be cool to match them to an owner. I will help out any way I can.

50dan, I sent you some ideas for removing them. Maybe somebody has some thoughts on removing 20 year old window stickers from glass? I did a little searching I read that vinegar is another thing to try. IT won't discolor most paper supposedly.

Actually I think it would be a mistake to remove the window stickers before making contact with the orginal cars current owner (if that is possible).
If I were one of the owners of these cars that the window/window sticker originally came off of I would probably display it as it is, still attached to the window as it left the Dearborn Assembly Plant where the car was born.
Why risk having it destroyed by trying to remove it when it would make such an interesting conversation piece displayed as it is, IMHO. :)
